Re: San Francisco fishing options for a clueless Aussie
Some duplicate info from what Cal has already posted, but I figure that's okay: Clear Lake is less than 2 hours away and I've had good days there in mid-Feb. Not awesome days, but you can catch 10+ fish. Tons of guide services if you want to go. There are also guides for Lake Berryessa, Lake Sonoma ...

Re: Anyone have any recent experiences with NFC?
I just went through the Edge customer experience for a 2nd time (after waiting 6+ months (of no communication) for my early-adaptor Epitome back when it was released). Bought a regular Black Widow swimbait rod during their Black Friday sale, thinking they'll only sell rods they actually have, and fo...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Holy Hell! How Kyoya uses this rod, if the guides so small? As I recall he puts braid on his reels. I'll try to snap a picture, maybe others' experiences differ. I tried FG knots of 30lbs Maxcuatro -> 12lbs fluoro (for finesse jigs) and that knot worried me. It'll go though the guides and you can c...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
One more thing people should be aware of with these rods is that the S68MH has the tiniest AGS guides I’ve ever seen on a rod; waaayyy smaller in diameter than any USDM Steez or Legend Extreme. They’re kind of cool, but IMO there’s no way to feasibly run a connection knot through that guide train wi...

Re: Conquest 843C MBR vs Poison Ultima PU1610MA (Medium Power)
The Poison Glorious is indeed more versatile. I have the 6’10” M and it’s a great fluke rod on top of everything else. Can even do 110-size jerkbaits. It loads up more similarly to the Adrena even according to Shimano. I’d give the nod to the Ultima in terms of sensitivity, but it’s plenty sensitive...

Re: Conquest 843C MBR vs Poison Ultima PU1610MA (Medium Power)
The PU 6'10" Medium feels like it fishes heavier than the same rod in lower Shimano rod lines (I've compared it to the 6'10" M Poison Glorious, Poison Adrena and Expride A rods). Part of that is simply how crisp (if not to say stiff) that rod is compared to the lower-segment rods. Once you have a fi...

Re: New Certate?
Can somebody provide a refresher on FC vs LT models? "Finesse Custom" vs "Light (and) Tough".
Is it true that I want a 2500 LT model for a M or MH (finesse) jig rod, not an FC one?
(But would go for FC if I wanted a 2000 model for a finesse - dropshot etc. - rod?)

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
It’s a SUPER stiff and boardy spinning rod and definitely comes down to style and personal preference. If anyone is looking for softness or feather light tip flex don’t buy it. Definitely be aware of what you’re getting into before buying one. It’s entirely intended to be a JDM heavy cover shooting...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
I've been fishing the Real Control S68MH for a few trips now, and while I like it, personally I'm not blown away. It feels like a textbook case of going too stiff and rigid on a supposedly super high-end rod, at the expense of enjoyment/castability/versatility. Supposedly the whole RC series is des...

Re: Casting Ned Rig rod
Threw a bunch of dropshot on the Finesse Game Special and it did it very well. 3/16oz in 30 feet of water, no problem! Really loving this rod, and it does those 3/16oz Ned’s just as well. Good at controlling feisty spotted bass and keeping them pinned, even though it has that x-fast action. Just ou...

There’s probably a reason FFS both stands for “Forward Facing Sonar” and “For damn it’s Sake!”

Re: why chartreuse?
According to some studies, bass sees chartreuse as white. I don't know if it's true or not. If that's true, what's a good reason to use chartreuse, instead of white. :D Correct. I’ve posted this study before: https://academic.oup.com/cz/article/65/1/43/4924236 Bass can’t really distinguish between ...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
There is no comparison between an 852 and the S68MH, it is significantly more powerful and yes it could easily fish a 3/8 jig, T-rig plastic, or hollow body frog in moderate to heavy cover. Thanks, this rod is now on my radar! I've been trying to balance out my casting and spinning setup to rest my...
