Good Morning,
thank you for your answer!
So basically you're saying that the FTB brake system has the upper hand on any other brakes for low weight applications, correct?

Calcutta Conquest 2021 vs Calcutta Conquest BFS
Hi All, I have seen on Japantackle that a new Calcutta Conquest is going to hit the market starting end of March 2021. I really love this gold color and am trying to convince myself :^o that I don't need one ](*,) , especially for the way I intend to use it for which is Trout fishing in river/stream...

Re: Best Sub $300 Ultralight Spinning Reel
As to 500 or 1000, I think it may depend on the line used as the 500 is lighter and may balance the rod better. If one is using UL braid, the spool size makes no difference in casting distance. Just my opinion...:) Totally agreed on this, I am using a 5 lb Sunline Area Troutist PE 0.2 and I guarant...

Re: Best Sub $300 Ultralight Spinning Reel
I use a Shimano 17 Soare Ci4+ 500s on my Tenryu Rayz 5.3 rod and it matches perfectly my needs, a great, light reel. Eventually the new Shimano Vanford could be an option as they make it in both, 500 and 1000 size (at least in Europe).
The Soare would be my personal choice though.

Re: Daiwa Air Stream Custom Problems
Yes i do have the original reel and spool as it came from japantackle or japanlure, don‘t remember.
I will try to tighten the mechanical brake further and see what happens.

Re: Daiwa Air Stream Custom Problems
The thin braids have this issue. You can under fill slightly to help mitigate this but switching to a larger diameter line is the only way to solve it. I was also under the impression that the Alde BFS was one if the worst offenders of this based on the number or reports but that could be because i...

Daiwa Air Stream Custom Problems
Hi All, I have a „problem“ with my ASC, in about 5 times I went fishing I got line under my spool... I had a 7,4 lb sunline troutist x8 braid, and braid got under spool when I casted „too hard“ I tried to tigthten the brake but it still happened. I put some nylon 6 lb braid on it (varivas baitfiness...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom - BFS
I have put it the way Jun suggested with the N upwards, unfortunately can‘t test it now as in Italy everybody has to stay home and fishing is not a reason to leave your premises... :( (which probably is better considering the impact covid has). How is the situation in the US? You guys still allowed ...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom - BFS
Hi Hobie, Thanks for your extra feedback! It seems very difficult to find at a reasonable price so I have put on hold my purchase for now, just saw your instagram post about new Alphas Air and might be waiting for some review on that. May I ask for info on the Aldebaran? I added two magnets today to...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom - BFS
Welcome Chris. I really liked my Air Stream Custom (fell out the boat). I would say the 3-5gr range will do just fine with the ASC. The spool is really controlled without being restricted. I did an in depth write up in the TT User Review section on the ASC. I also have YouTube series on the reel. I...

Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom - BFS
Hi All, New to this forum, have started reading a bit since I have tried BFS for trout and as you can imagine it’s quite a mess now.. ](*,) I have fished my first and only combo only 4 times yet but already desire to buy another one  , my actual combo is a Major Craft Finetail 4,10’ and a Shim...
