Re: Mid Diving Flat Sides

In my opinion, the best flat crankbaits
ever produced were the Bandit Flat Maxx
Shallow (4-8 ft.) and the Bandit Flat Maxx
Deep (8-12 ft.). Although they have been
out of production for a number of years,
they appear on the auction site occasionally.

Re: Opinion on SPRO products

In my opinion, the Aruku shad - 5/8 oz. size is
as good as lipless cranks get. It catches fish
on the fall, as well as with a straight retrieve.
However, you must upsize the stock rear treble
to a short-shank #4 to avoid losing fish. (In
my experience with smallmouths)

Re: Can anyone identify this crankbait?

Wow, I guess you do have a few!
They must be good producers
or you wouldn’t have so many.

How deep do they dive?
Is there another lure you would
compare them to?

The body of the one I have is 3-1/8 in.,
and the total length is almost 5 in.

Re: Can anyone identify this crankbait?

That’s what I thought at first,
but I cannot find one where
the back of the lure extends
beyond the rear hook like the
lure I have.

Re: Line Diameter Comparisons

Unfortunately, most of the line diameters listed on most line packages are inaccurate. Lines can be as much as 25% thicker than the stated diameter. This cannot be unintentional. I believe that most line companies merely match the diameters that are stated on the packages of lines that they perceive...

Re: What is your primary line setup?

Various co-polymers on different outfits
for different applications/situations,
plus flourocarbon (with mono leader) for
Carolina rigs.

Re: Damyl Tectan

I used it for deep crankbaits on the Niagara River over very rocky bottoms, which usually is very tough on lines. I never lost a lure or fish (smallmouth) due to line breakage all season. Sure, I retied when I felt any roughness, but it didn’t seem that I retied as often as I usually did. I’m sure t...

Damyl Tectan

This past season, I used 15.1 lb Damyl Tectan on one of my outfits. Its diameter (.01175 in.) is about the same or less than that of many 10 lb. test copolymers or nylon monofilaments. This small diameter, low stretch, and abrasion resistance make it an outstanding option in my opinion. I would have...

Re: Chatterbait Advice

I’ve had very good success with the
Picasso Shock Blade Pro. I fish the
upper Niagara River where losing baits
is inevitable. That makes Jackhammers
too expensive for this application.

What is your favorite discontinued lure?

One of mine is the Bandit Flat Maxx, a great cold water crankbait.
