Re: Tuning Isuzu reel
Thanks to all for posting and keep 'em coming please. I received my Isuzu, and it's a beauty. Any idea when the Try-Angle line guides for the 400 size are going to become available again? Was there only one production run in the past or multiple?

Re: Small Ambassadeur guide for dummies?
I'll PM you where to get new old stock side plates. The Abu IAR bearings are really stout. Out of the countless Ambassadeurs I've serviced ranging from mint to beat, only one has a bad IAR bearing. That particular reel was used in the salt and put on a shelf for 20 years before it came into my shop...

Re: Small Ambassadeur guide for dummies?
Thanks. IAR side plates come with anti-reverse clutch built in, don't they? If so, is it serviceable or do you just hope to get a good one when you buy a pair of old side plates? Apologies in advance if this is a poor question.

Re: Small Ambassadeur guide for dummies?
Thanks to both for posting. Tincanary, I was hoping you'd chime in. Excellent info. Between IAR and non-IAR, how much of a difference in fishing experience is there, especially after extensive tuning with aftermarket parts? I sometime come across CDL notation in the model name – what does it stand f...

Small Ambassadeur guide for dummies?
Hello,
Is anybody willing to contribute? I would very much like to learn. Any notes would be appreciated. A question to get this started: what's the difference between IAR and non-IAR versions of 2500c?

Re: Tuning Isuzu reel
Thanks, Aquaftm45. I really appreciate your notes. I'll add the Avail brake block to the list. You're right, the line guide set seems to be sold out everywhere. I might just get the Try-Angle spool and the cogwheel set and the Avail brake block for now. I read a few comments on Japanese sites that t...

Tuning Isuzu reel
Hello, I came across the recently released Isuzu BC441SSS and ordered one. I always wanted to try a classic round reel but did not want to hunt for a left-handed Ambassadeur in 1500 or 2500 size, for various reasons. The new Isuzu model appears to be aimed at mountain stream fishing, according to th...

I know those who've paid double that or more for some of the UFM Ueda models in excellent condition.

Re: Returning JDM Issues
First time I'm hearing about JDM retailer who's willing to provide a return shipping label (or equivalent offer in this case). Would you mind sharing their name? Sounds like someone I'd like to do business with. On a related note, they may be able to simply reimburse you for the return shipping, as ...

Re: 23 Exist SF (Super Finesse)
Picked up SF 2000SS-P. Very low starting and stopping inertia, lower than that of 19 Vanquish 1000SSSPG or C2000SSS (use them as reference because I have amazing copies of both). Very impressive. Winding resistance is on par with the Vanquish. As smooth as 22 Exist LT in that size, though just like ...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Just want to clarify one thing, hvf/svf/compile-x are not blank material, those are daiwa terms for blank manufacturing process. Since they don't state what materials are used, it could be that same materials are being used for hvf to compile-x. Not saying it's a fact but it could. I agree with tha...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Daiwa has never stated that they use T1100G in any of nanoplus blanks Not true. All of my Morethan Branzino Ex AGS rods came with T1100G tag. To be clear, there is a difference between just "nanoplus" and "Compile-X nanoplus" materials, according to Daiwa. T1100G tag is for AGS, not blank material....

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Daiwa is one of the few companies these days that appears unwilling to advertise what’s used in their rods. For better or worse. Having fished the Real Control, Racing Designs, and USDM AGS rods quite a bit, along with other T1100G (and some T1100G+M40X) rods (some amazing and some disappointing), ...
