Re: 2023 Steez A II TW series in Saltwater?

Thanks for sharing your experience with the A2 in the salt! Just as I was about the pull the trigger on the A2, unfortunately or fortunately, the announced the launch of the 2024 SV TW, which means that they may just launch a 2024 Morethan later this year.... decisions desisions....

Re: My little Swedish army, taking these to the grave

In my personal humble opinion, if there is an all time champion award for fishing reel design, these small Abu Ambassadeurs should win the award every day of the week and twice on weekends!! https://i.imgur.com/zlgQ59A.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jeJRAFA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2osWrXo.jpg https://i.img...

Re: Do You still Use Lures that You Bought, When You're a Kid?

I'll be turning 55 soon and still have a couple of lures that I bought as a 11-12 year old... They are certainly in bad shape after all these years but most are still fishable! :D Let's see... here is a list... Rapala CD9 Rapala Original floating Heddon Zara Spook Cotton Cordell Pencil Popper Rebel ...

Re: Travel Rod : Studio Composite Versus North Fork

Transworld by far and make sure you go up in rod power as the Transworlds tend to be a way on the lighter side. For what you’re talking about doing I would recommend a 5 or 6 power Transworld. I fish a 7606-5 a lot and feel like you’d be a lot happier with the 5 or 6 power. Do not buy a 3 power for...

Re: Travel Rod : Studio Composite Versus North Fork

Daiwa might have something in their Black Label travel series (JDM). I've been through several multi piece rods, but none as powerful as your requirements. The Black Label is the only one I've found that all the action isn't only just in the tip section. That being said, you just can't go wrong wit...

While i am sure the studio composite rods are awesome, you should check for the megamebass valkerie world expedition rods as well. Lots of actions, and super solid rods all around.
Thanks SSS, I'll check out the Valkerie.

Re: Travel Rod : Studio Composite Versus North Fork

I've got the Studio Composite 7603 (non-travel) and it's built like a tank. I've used it for a wide variety of species, including 15lb Snook and Stripers and even a 50lb Tarpon. Under those circumstance, I was using 50# Braid (PE3) and up to a 40# leader. It's one of the few bass rods that I have t...

All Carbon Integrated Reel Seat & Grip, Slipery when wet?

These handle looks really slick and attractive, but just wondering if they can become slipery when wet? Especially those with gloss finish? Can anyone that had customise your rods where these integrated grips share your experiences please? Also, are there any weight savings by using Cartbon grips as...

Travel Rod : Studio Composite Versus North Fork

Hi, I'm in the market for a multi-piece heavy casting rod for an experdition trip to a remote location for Papua New Guinea Black Bass. I'll be casting relatively big baits of up to 2.5oz on heavy braided line of up to 40lb(PowerPro or Sufix832). The PNG Black Bass are known to be hard pulling fish ...

Re: Ceramic Bearings from AliExpress?

Here's my findings. Incredibly smooth straight out of the bag, opened up and as you see. 20230619_170012~2.jpg Last picture of inside outer race shows what seems to be oxidising later but to be fair it's at best 304 grade or lower? 20230619_170115~2.jpg Went inside a old D Chronarch that's a bit of...

Re: Ceramic Bearings from AliExpress?

Thanks! I also realized what Daiwa was trying to do with that 5x9x4 measurement too... I tried to order that MagSeal bearing with the local Daiwa dealership and was quoted a price of USD$36!!! So I gave it a pass... Anyway that MagSeal bearing was the first and only one that rusted among the total o...

Re: Ceramic Bearings from AliExpress?

I went ahead and ordered a set of spool bearings and several other internal bearings to try out. Should arrive in a week or 2 I hope. But I was not able to find the correct size for the pinion gear bearing on the crank side of the reel. The original pinion bearing (size 5mm by 9mm by 4mm ) appears t...

Re: Ceramic Bearings from AliExpress?

Thanks for the tip SSS, I'll give it a try! Just curious, what type of lube do you use with these ceramics? Have you tried running it dry? Thanks! I ran them dry, and they weren't even that noisy. Then i decided to add the hedgehog medium light oil to all of them, and tbh i don't really notice any ...
