If you can live with a 3 piece, the MH Daiwa Ardito will do exactly what you're asking. I own the XF ML, and the 7'6 MH Casting and Spinning. Great rods.

The Daiwa Ardito 7'6 MH will absolutely do it.

Accidentally twisted the stripper guide on my beloved ML Ardito. Emailed them and they sent me a brand new rod. Excellent experience.

After using my XXH in Florida, I can heartily recommend the Valkyrie World Expedition. The Hookup Tackle & Tackle Trap are both excellent sources.

I'll consider buying one in 6 months when they put them on clearance for $99. Ever look at something and go "I've spent more $ on dumber things"? That's how I feel about this reel. The Daiwa Ballistic Surf Rods, the Penn Fathom IIs & Authority, and the new Abu Revos all have my interest. If it swims, I fish for it.

The new Abu revo spinning line looks interesting. Certainly so at the price point.

XF tapers can be good for situations in which one needs tip flex but a lift point far from the reel.
