Re: My epitome is cursed

I despise all salty plastics. There are better ways to make plastic baits heavier and less durable.

Re: Spinning reel for lighter crank and jerkbaits

For me that would be the Certate. I use a 2500 size with 6-8# fluoro but the 3K will also fit the bill. I use a 19 mostly but it seems they are selling out. A new one is coming soon. I have also been pleased with the Luvias which pairs nicely with the lighter rods. Each of these come in a variety of...

Re: Normal for Daiwa rotor to feel "sticky" with bail up?

That's the brake to stop the rotor from turning and tripping the bail during casting motion.

Re: Spinning reel compact

The C is the next size down reel body as mentioned. The gears are also sized down correspondingly so there will be somewhat less torque available as these are marketed for more finesse type applications. I don't know that I would consider it less strong in that sense as the materials are identical a...

Re: I guess kistler must be the trendsetter these days

It's hard to resist temptation to market their own brand of reels as there is little investment needed and a substantial profit. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing the majority of rod companies jumping on the bandwagon. Those Cabelas rebranded Diawas were nice as they threw in a few perks li...

Re: Pflueger President LP (Circa 2004)

I had a righty and those were good cranking reels. The spool was relatively heavy and had a high capacity from what I recall.

Re: Backlash PSA

Been there before. It's usually after working on my reels.

Similar situation is going out and forgetting that the drag is backed off 90% from being stored that way. Things get interesting on that first bite of the day.

I am partial to an OG Zillion CC for that range.

Re: 2021 Daiwa Zillion SV TW

I have not noticed an issue with knots on my Zillion but I rarely use a leader longer than 6'. To me the 21 Zillion is about the best all around reel to come out since the introduction of the Curado B. If I had to choose one reel to fish with this would be it.

Daiwa for me but I hope to never be in a position with only one brand as an option.

Re: Quick 95mm handle question

I have good luck with the Ali CF reel handles and the better ones aren't much different from the SLP if not identical with the exception of price.

Most are made for Diawa knobs although Rays has some nice ones with Shimano posts.

Re: Do you trust aluminum gears?

Yes. I have OG Chronarch MGs and TDZs that have seen 100's of days on the water and still going strong. I tend to use the reels for what they were made for, and have other reels for deep cranking, punching etc.

Re: Do you still use Boca Bearings inside your reels?

I have a bunch of reels with the orange seals in them from back when it was the thing to do for all your new reel purchases. I haven't bought a set in over 10 years.
