Re: Megabass Destroyer P5 “Blade”
I've had the Blade for about a year now. Use it for spinnerbaits mostly, but have used it for traps and swim jigs too (poppin out of grass). Been happy with it, but wouldn't pay $500 for it. Purchased through JDM Tackle Heaven for much cheaper. 3/8oz is about the lightest spinnerbait i like casting ...

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season
Many get carried away with too much grease in saltwater reels. Or not thoroughly cleaning/flushing bearings and allowing them time to dry prior to greasing. I still have 25+yr old Green Curados still in saltwater service. Fish Galveston area, wading the surf/bay (reels have been inadvertently dunked...

Re: Tackle Storage - In house VS garage
Live on Texas Gulf Coast, everything is in the garage. Yep, even Deps and MegaBass baits. Just came through the hottest Summer ever here. No issues.

Re: Forward Facing Sonar and Co Anglers
Prior to FFS the worst a co-angler had to deal with was a Boater fishing for strictly bed fish. Could be stuck in one spot for an hour. But at least as a co-angler you could cast around the area and pick up fish that couldn't be seen. Had several co-anglers catch multiple fish while I was working on...

Re: What's the most you would pay for a used rod?
Rods are one thing I won't buy used on-line. If I'm buying from a buddy and can fish it first then yeah I would pay up to original cost if I liked it enough and depending on how much it had been used. One rod I'd love to find again or like it, is the American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium 6'8" MXF. It was a...

Re: Salt free trailers
Hello TT, I have some custom swimjigs built with Owner deep throat style high carbon content hooks...these things are ridiculously sharp and hook and hold better than just about anything else I have ever used. This said, every season I strip off the plastics and have to clean off the rust on the ho...

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?
Oh yeah after reading again you are after a replacement for the DT Flat 3 but have both the 3 and 7? For just the Flat 3 I would recommend the shallow Flat A, OG tiny 4, OG slim 6 and Fritts Side 5. The Flat A will be the cheapest and most expendable but it does rattle with the weight transfer syst...

Re: Do You still Use Lures that You Bought, When You're a Kid?
Yep. Still have some Bagley's ET2's, Poe's RC7's. Bought those back when you mail ordered from BPS. I was probably in 6th grade. I'm 49 y/o now. I still have a Whopper Stopper chugger that had the vibrating spring weigh inside like the Deps Pulse Cod. That innovation actually came out in late 80's,...

Re: Saltwater safe baitcaster
Bates reels made here in Texas are starting to draw a lot of interest. Look to be an amazing reel that will last in salt also. Bate's Hundo 5oz is what i'm eyeing next. Not sure why they chose 6061 T6 billet as their choice for the frame? I'm not knowledgeable enough to know why theT6 hardened vari...

Re: Mid Diving Flat Sides
Rapala Ott's OG Slim is a 6' flat side. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Rapala_Otts_Garage_OG_Slim_06_Crankbaits/descpage-OGS6.html Back in the day, Rapala used to make bigger flat sides when coffin lips and sure set hooks that dive deeper... however those models are discontinued. Yep, still have a...

Re: Best Topwater Lure of the Year, 2023
Mine has been the H2O X Popper. Has a good feather rear treble, walks great, and spits good. I caught many Bass, redfish and speckled trout on it. And it's $4.49 every day (got mine when they were on sale for $2.99.) Next would be a Bone Spook Jr.
