Roro spool ?

All I have what appears to be an early version Roro CB26 with no ball bearings in spool shaft end. Has anyone compared one of these with the same spool that includes the BB ends?

Re: Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?

Oh I don't doubt it. But JDM rods aren't thr easiest to get. I built the 10 ft light model for Surf Perch. Came in at under 7 ounces and could throw .75 to 1.5 oz out of sight. They are a great budget surf rod. Better than anything off the shelf for surf (at least on thr West Coast). Personally I wo...

I forgot about Black Hole's Suzuki Special Ultralight line. Probably perfect for your needs. Variety of lengths, and have a good action whipping lures. I had the none ultralight 10 footer and felt it was great for Surf fishing up to 2 ounces. The UL line are more geared for lures rather than high lo...

Re: Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?

I'd be hesitant to use the ST 905 for this purpose. I built this blank up for drift fishing. It's not really designed for whipping out lures for distance and while it has backbone, it's pretty soft blank over all. With that said, it will work but not optimally.

I would lookup Carolina Castpro and call up the owner, Tommy Farmer. Great blanks and great rods. I bet the 8 footer extended would be the hot ticket.

Re: Rainshadow SP841 or 842 - Smallmouth

Right now with an NFC glass rod and an Xray mb 733 I feel I'm stuck either too light or too heavy. Are these blanks thst light? Or does the power just kick in lower? 1/4 oz and up the 733 will do. But thst glass rod is a buggy whip up top then locks up.

Re: Rainshadow SP841 or 842 - Smallmouth

Yea it's their poping blanks. I've been hunting for CCS data....I'm feeling like it doesn't really take into account how action affects power. I've seen BIG fish landed on moderate blanks with not so much power in the top half. Spoke with Kerry Batson, he agrees with you 2 or 3 power for Bass.just t...

Rainshadow SP841 or 842 - Smallmouth

Hello,
I'm building a rod for sub quarter ounce Ned's and quarter ounce top waters for Smallmouth Bass. Fish will mostly be on the small side but could be up to 18 or 19 inches. Intend to use an SLX BFS until I can find a more substantial finesse baitcaster. Which of these blanks would you recommend?

Re: Finesse baitcaster under 220ish

All, I've been hunting for an Alphas CTSV in left hand for awhile but it seems the lefties require a steep premium. Is there a reel, JDM or USDM that rocks for baits in the 1/8th to 1/4 oz range for under 220? Or possibly a cheaper reel that can be upgraded readily with a shallower and lighter weig...

Re: Lew's Custom Lite SS, BFS reel with centrifugal brake

Some people love Lews over Shimano/Daiwa. The only one I have is a Speed Spool LFS from like 8 years ago. Linear mag brakes.....very wild reel. But for the price, not bad. 300 though.....

Re: Okuma Hakai

Thoughts on the quality? Worth it over the Alphas 800s for light Neds?
