Re: Shore pike and bass pond
I'd probably fish weedless frogs if the weeds are heavy especially in the warmer months (May through October). Some of the more "oddball" designs such as prop frogs (e.g. Lunkerhunt Propfish Sunfish) and bladed frogs (e.g. Teckel QLinker) would be good picks as well to differentiate what other angl...

Re: Cashion Rods questions
Im going to switch to Cashion Rods and switching my gx2 medium action spinning rod to their 7ft medium heavy element inshore flounder and red spinning rod and was wondering •if it would bend and have the same flexibility like the medium action ugly stik •which spinning rod has the same stiffness as...

Re: Exceeding rod lure weight rating
It depends on the rod to be honest. Some rods are too generous or conservative with the ratings. Disclosing the specific rod may help. If it's a high end rod, I'd stay within range. I have a 3/8 to 3oz rod that I can throw 6oz baits on. I also have some rods rated higher or within a range that I'd ...

Exceeding rod lure weight rating
Looking into a new rod i already have picked out but something i never really worried about on my current rod (7ft 1 piece medium action gx2 ugky stik) was exceeding the lure weight rating and was wondering if it could cause the rod to break (not going to exceeding it just some times through out the...

Re: Looking for a rod brand that fits a criteria /a rod brand comparison
I haven't fished an Ugly Stick in many years, but I can't imagine Cashion being anything but an improved overall experience. I believe that ALX is another option, they even roll their own blanks. Keep in mind that even though the made in US rods are assembled here, blanks and components are typical...

Re: Looking for a rod brand that fits a criteria /a rod brand comparison
I currently use ugly stiks for fishing rods and am thinking about switching to cashion rods as they are 100% handcrafted in North Carolina as my career field got me big in buying made in usa and supporting companies that are 100% made in usa and was wondering if cashion rods are as durable or more ...

Any made in usa otherwise it doesnt seem worth spending the extra moneyslipperybob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 6:23 amLike an Ugly Stick but better. Shimano Teramar SE models, but made in China. The TC4 blank construction is tough and yet sensitive. These rods are just over $100. Not sure what the current inflated price is.

Surgeons knot
I use the surgeons knot for fluoro to fluoro when respooling but the online way to do so is to have the tag ends parallel rather than perpendicular and i was wondering if that affects the strength as i saw it being the strongest as well as being able to cut the tags of as much as possible (I started...
