Why do people fish such heavy breaking strain lines when targeting bass?
Just a general question regarding bass fishing. Why do people fish such heavy breaking strain lines when targeting bass? I grew up catching trout and have almost no Bass fishing experience but I have since moved to an area with same bass fishing nearby. For trout, I predominantly use 4-6lb test line...

LuckyCraft Slender Pointer 67MR
I purchased a LC Slender Pointer 67MR, now I am wonder whats the correct way to cast and/or fish it? About every second cast I am getting the hooks tangled together which all but ruins its action. Thinking of removing the second hook but there must be a technique which does not result in so many tan...

Re: Tiny Baits
Have given a selection of Salmo Hornets a thrashing over the last few weeks and not even had a follow. Had one unconfirmed strike... They do look very good but the fish seem to have other ideas. The CD1 Rapalas and Flies were still catching... Still suspect they have potential so not going to give u...

Re: Tiny Baits
Thanks for all the suggestions, Slowly researching all of the lures, trying to find colour patterns which I think would suit local conditions. Already got a few ordered.
Has anyone here tried the Smith Camion SR ad Camion DR.

Re: Tiny Baits
Would give them a try, Just ordered a few Salmo H3SRS. They are 3.5cm long which is a touch shorter then the Rapala F3, Single triple hook which might just snag less weed then the double hook set-ups on the Rapalas.

Tiny Baits
I always like having a few tiny Rapala CD1 or F3 in my tackle box mainly for targeting trout, but wanting to try a few different brands and lure manufacturers . So was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on other tiny lures to try?

Reel Smoothness.
Many people seem to place a high importance on reel smoothness, but I do not really understand the importance of it in a reel. It is nice playing with a extremely smooth reel, and certainly if a reel is seizing or jamming while winding it would cause problems, but that is really only occurs when a r...

Are they plastic?
Their skin tone looks completely wrong and unnatural. Looks like a type of blow up doll.

Re: What's with the fishing gloves?
The main reason I would wear a glove would be to help protect the slime layer on the fish. They can quite easily get infections if held by a dry hand.
Gloves also make holding braid easier and they are nice in winter when your hands are frozen.

Re: Fireline Crystal - 2 & 3 actual lb breaking strength
A couple of days back I was testing a range of different leaders (Both Flouro and mono) to test breaking strains. I quickly found out that the knots which I trusted failed quickly on the Flouro.... The knots generally failed at 40-50% of the lines breaking strain. My mono knots did not fail before t...

Re: New Rapala
Looks nice. Would test a few out if I find a suitable pattern.
(The tone of the voice over guy, and the constant marketing speak really got to me by the end of the clip. Actually I got annoyed with it about 30 seconds into the clip.)

Rod to match with Daiwa Certate 4000 reel.
I brought a Daiwa Certate a while back and never matched it with a suitable rod. I currently have the reel spooled with 14lb fireline and target fish in both Salt and Freshwater. I mainly use the reel to fish Soft Plastics baits with. I would mainly be casting from the shore and retrieving the bait ...

Re: Which 'ultra light' reel?
I actually caught the trout about 200m downstream from that spot in a deep pool. The area where the photo was taken is at the carpark so most fish are scared away by swimmers and holiday anglers. The area is a natural river and has been that way my entire life. The area in the photo is a long pond t...

Re: Which 'ultra light' reel?
The river is in the South Island of New Zealand. Fairly typical of rivers up in the mountains.
