Re: Daiwa Presso
The rods are only available as 2 piece... I guess (being a trout rig) Daiwa thinks we'll be packing. No spiral wraps. For $425 USD, another Elese begins to look good. Perhaps an Elite or that F1.5 (I forget the name) for Pixy and Elese for the Presso reel. What's this mention of "resin" in the reel...

Re: Would a very narrow spool be advantageous for a baitcast
by increasing the diameter of the spool and at the same time retaining line-volume, you gain moment of inertia by. I just dont get the argument for why moving mass further away from its axis would lead to any positive benefits in casting? I think the real issue (from v's previous diagram) is how the...

Re: Would a very narrow spool be advantageous for a baitcast
Wouldnt re-thinking the line guide in 'cast-state' make alot of these issues redundant. With thinner spools, you get less spool-diameter <> line-length relationship, which to me would mean more line-memory and energy lost in straightening the line out just so much more due to a more dramatic fold. I...

Re: Drag on Daiwa Pixy
Man the BaitMonkey sure knows his works, and guyz do me a favor, pleez stop talking about the Pixy, the Baitmonkey is not sure what he wants, red is his favorite color and with all this talk his appetite is growing and growling, pretty soon he´s not going to give a damn if the reel has an underp...

Re: Drag on Daiwa Pixy
I think you will be fine, once you spend some time with the new Pixy, you (or the baitmonkey) will find yourselves caught up in a romance and somehow you will find yourself arguing for how the Pixy quite possibly could be the best all-round reel you have ever laid your hands on, even though its know...

Re: Drag on Daiwa Pixy
IMO: There is allways going to be the risk of being 'very underpowered' but that is also very relative to your strategy in the fight. A disproportionate example would be trying to muscle in a 40lb King with something like an Abu 6500, which would probably not happen if the fight was on. But a bit of...
