Re: BFS Topwater rod recommendation
I was thinking 6 lb mono, maybe 8 . I might consider the Curado, a little more than I wanted to spend on a rod used primarily for topwaters but that wouldn't be the first time I exceeded my budget on fishing tackle. :D Even though it's fiberglass I assume that it wouldn't be too bulky and heavy giv...

BFS Topwater rod recommendation
Looking for a rod that is not overly expensive to throw 1/8 to 1/4 oz topwater baits like floating rapalas and small poppers , length wise I would prefer something in the 6'6" - 6'10 " range. I would like something that has a little power in case I run into a 5 lber though I realize there is some sa...

Re: Best wake cranks?
My favorite was the old Xcalibur wake crank that they discontinued a few years back, violent strikes with this bait at times .

Re: Your Favorite Discontinued Bait
I mentioned it another thread but the Xcalibur Wake crank is the best that I have used in that bait category .

Re: True Wake Baits
The best one I've ever used is the discontinued Xcalibur wake crank, when they are on it that bait gets destroyed . It also does a great job with faster retrieves and the loud rattle really pisses them off when fished over grass .

Re: Why no love for the DT-4
I think part of the reason for me is I usually do better with a Strike King or Lucky Craft squarebill and they run in a similar depth range. There are lot of swimbaits that I throw in that depth range as well. In my experience the DT 4 catches fish but for whatever reason I've had way more success o...

Re: Keitch jigs
I've only fished the model 1 and model 2, no problems with the size of the hooks or them bending out . These are finesse jigs designed to be fished with smaller trailers and lighter line, very high quality and will successfully land a lot of nice fish if used properly .

Re: Best 12-15" worm
I love fishing larger worms, so I thought I would revive this thread. I use the Gambler 10" and 13" ribbontail and the 9" ledge worms. Missile Tomahawk is my "finesse" ribbontail. I also have used the Deps deathadder 10" which has a massive body. I'll fish these texas rigged or shakey head. I am wo...

Re: NEW RAPALA SHADOW RAP
bringing back a somewhat old thread. for those that have fished this thing, how effective is it? worth the $9? how strong are the hooks and bill? thx Ttt, wondering the same. This was my most productive jerkbait from last spring. It outproduced my favorites which would include offerings from Strike...

Re: Wake Baits?
I will have to hunt the Mann's Wake bait. My all time favorite made by Pradco under the ExCalibur name they discontinued, I have a few left. Another good one besides some of those already mentioned would be the Bass Pro Shops Offshore Angler Wake bait from their saltwater line-up . http://www.basspr...

Re: Solid body paddle tail swimbaits
I will add another for your consideration which is a finesse swimbait that has caught me a lot of fish is a 4" Damiki Anchovy shad . I caught off the head part and attach this to a Revenge jighead in either an 1/8 or 1/4 oz size because I don't like swimbaits with 4 eyes to them . This bait throws a...
