Re: Casting reel for the inexperienced

A TDZ reel for sure and you can change the spools as their casting improves!

For a novice caster some sort of SV spool
Intermediate caster it’o r+
Pro caster ZPI PG spool

A good flushing with light oil would probably make the difference as new bearings.

With that said I've changed some of mine to the Hedgehog AirHD
How much more over the stock bearings have you found them to be inside the platform that you are using?

Re: Silly Frog reel question

The reel would absolutely be capable, the biggest concern I would have is IPT. You’re a righty if I recall correctly, so you’ll be limited to the 6.3:1 gear ratio in the Fuego. I am currently using a thrashed LH Itö 103 for frogging with the same gear ratio and although it’s done well I do find mys...

Re: Silly Frog reel question

Anything can if you set your heart to it I understand I just sold the rod it was on and looked to expand on the use for the reel. For now it’s on the shelf as I’m finding stuff has accumulated on my shelf that someone else may actually have time to use. I have a Steez limited that I had on a compil...

Re: Pixy Secret

I've tried them all on pixies. Tried the airy red spool with a faster R tuned inductor from the tdz type r as well. My fav setup is the finesse special spool with ceramic hybrids (or the air bfs bearings) in any of the pixies. The furthest casting spool and also the one that handles the lightest of...

Re: 2021 steez ags rods

Yea, a little disappointing to hear, not sure if its a dealbreaker though Please don't misconstrue my statement. The balance isn't "perfect" but exceptionally few rods are, and those that are are often ridiculed for being too heavy in overall weight. This entire series is light weight in hand, has ...

Old School G Loomis

The two oldest rods I own are the Loomis SBR812 and IMX843 Both now have the conquest 100hg DC on them and I like both setups but the most versatile is the IMX843 but I use them both for spinnerbaits. I use lighter test on the longer rod and heavier on the shorter rod because in my mind that short r...

Re: Would you be interested in reel with DC brakes if they didn't "whine"?

Doesn’t matter to me much , my hearing sucks It really sucks to the point I don’t always hear the sarcasm coming from family members about the television being so loud. Admittedly though sometimes I just ignore them and play along. But after almost 25 years around gas turbines this little thing is n...

No, the Alpha is cheap Shakespere plastic reel. The Daiwa Alphas SV can't take 7.9:1 either although it does come in a 7.2:1.
Okay man
Thanks I appreciate it.
I was moving stuff around and supposedly getting rid of rods reels etc when I saw parts and said I need to do another project 😂

Before I start looking for this reel can’t I drop a set of 7.9:1 gears in it?
