Re: What happened to Shimano’s quality control?

I am unsure of the final QC process for Thailand. I handle the QC duties here in the US. I perform inspections of all new product shipments. If issues like this are found I will pull the product and contact the correct factory. It starts an entire process to inspect and change production. The reels ...

Re: New Sustain FJ...

Rick,

I do not have either of the reels on hand to weigh due to no inventory available. The spec should be correct.

Re: wet scorpion dc reel

Slazmo is 100% correct. Typically if the reel is dunked in freshwater it will be ok, but if that water was muddy or dirty I would service the reel. Just to be safe.

Re: Shimano Rods...

We would need you to send the rod in for evaluation. Our rod warranty inspector will test cast the rod to see what is going on. Just provide the info as to what reel, line, lure weight you are using so we can try to duplicate it as close as possible.

Re: Shimano Rods...

Sometimes the guide can flex a little, or there is slightly too much epoxy on the guide foot that does not bond to the guide. The guide can and does move a little when using the rod. The "click" has been from the guide touching the epoxy. Sometimes a simple wiggle of the guide back and forth clears ...

Re: Metanium and Bantam Bearings Noise

Eliminate any side to side play and there should be enough freespool that it will still cast very well. Side to side play can be the culprit of the vibration.

Re: Metanium and Bantam Bearings Noise

Thank you for the replay bantam1, been kinda waiting for your opinion on this one. The noise only happens when casting and as I mentioned before, the noise started right after I oiled these bearings, gears and x-ship bearings etc. are in good shape and very smooth when reeling on both reels. The re...

Re: Metanium and Bantam Bearings Noise

Is the bearing noise when casting or reeling? The spool bearing (on the spool) is oil filled and tend to get a little noisy early and require routine maintenance. Once they start making noise it is time to replace them. We see some fail quickly, but the majority are fine. The pinion and X-Ship beari...

Re: Stradic FK 5000

Please send me a PM with your name and address. Next time do not open the reel and attempt to service it. We only recommend our lubricants on our reels. The spinning reels use a few different types to ensure proper protection and ensure smoothness. The gears are shimmed to adjust for gear feel. The ...

Re: Broken dc braking system.. or not?

The FC braking settings will have more braking force because FC line is actually heavier in weight than braided line or mono. The braided line settings will have the least braking forces because of the line weight being lower. In the mid settings you may not feel much difference due to how the syste...

Re: Broken dc braking system.. or not?

Typically the first thing to do is clean the optical sensor to see if that will help. If that doesn't fix it then the DC unit needs to be replaced. I am unsure if they are still available from Japan and I do not know the cost. The DC units are usually pretty expensive for the older reels. $300+ US u...
