Re: Favorite reels, gems that you'll never part with

Beautiful reels PABass! I am not sure, so many to pick from all unique, modded, with my own funky fresh take on it. Probably my first JDM reel the TDZ 100m, which I bought from PoBigRed, who bought it from Hoohoorjoo who bought it from someone else before that. It is still mint and slick as snot ht...

Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?

Haven't been on any great topwater bites this year but the whopper plopped has been bringing them in consistently for me.

Re: Favorite reels, gems that you'll never part with

My Cardinal 3, probably gonna get willed out to my son. I don't think I've ever owned a more durable spinning reel. I had one in the past that was stolen from me 20 years back, and that one was given to my by my uncle that bought it new in the 70s. My old one was pretty beat as my uncle used it for...

Favorite reels, gems that you'll never part with

Lately I've been digging thru my reel tote, so many good memories in there.. Found a few gems I'll never part with. My first project reel, an ito103m. Took what felt like forever to source parts but it turned out great and was my introduction to the dark side. My first Alphas, and second project ree...

Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?

I've a sol that does exactly what you're describing. Tried a new spool pin, pinion gear, spool bearing, etc.. Sounds like the spool knocking around after engaging like it's not fully seated in the pinion. I've a couple other alphas spools that work fine in the same reel, just that one that causes th...

Re: tatula 701mrb?

I love my flexlite! It's prolly my most used moving bait rod. I've been looking for a second one and came across the Steez xt 701mrb. It's a little softer than the flexlite but feels similar otherwise.

Re: Spool question

I believe so.
Hopefully someone will chime in who's tried it.
A tdz spool fits with a bearing swap as well, that's what I had in my tdx.

Re: Older Daiwa 7.x ratio reels

I'm a huge fan of the old tdx reels too. Unfortunately there aren't any faster gears that'll fit that I'm aware of.

Re: G Loomis Build Quality

Small things slip by qc, sure.. But obviously misaligned guides, wraps that look amateur at best, bubbles in epoxy, loose reelseats, and so on.. Those arent just small problems on a flagship product. Doesn't matter tho, they'll keep selling regardless.

Re: G Loomis Build Quality

I thought they were outsourced too. The two I had both had guides slightly off center, sloppy wraps and bubbles in the epoxy. The reel seat failed on one of them after less than a year.. The other shortly after. The blanks are awesome but the build quality and qc is just not up to par. Outsourced or...

Re: G Loomis Build Quality

Ouch. Totally unacceptable on a mid tier rod let alone top of the line. It's common unfortunately. I stopped buying Loomis a couple years back after 3 unsuccessful attempts at getting a rod without obvious flaws.
