I agree on a 4 or 5 weight for all around trout,panfish, and some bass use.

I have an old Curado 101, a 101D, and a Revo STX in current rotation. The STX is noticably heavier but also noticably smoother than the 101D, I'm considering a slightly used Chronarch 51MG now.

I don't know anything about the Martin gear but I would recommend looking at Temple Forks, St. Croix,Sage(FLi, Launch series), Cabelas, and Bass Pro(White River) Combos if you must get a combo. Combos generally leave you with marginal quality line but a good line cost about $60.00. I'd recommend a 5...

Personally I'd rather rinse my bearings in alcohol; 95% or more. It'll rinse the solvent, displace water, and dry quickly. Dry with a hair dryer and lube one drop of oil per bearing with oil of choice.
