Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?
Yes it is. Hard to say is it mainly by his ridiculously expensive Anglo&co rods or by his remarkable casting skills. I guess it's more on skills despite of his high end rods. But bottom line is that all the energy hi puts to his rod transfers to lure and spool speed... I'd like to think if I had th...

Re: Good split ring pliers
I keep the Smith split ring tweezers in with my trout gear, it works well for size 0 to size 3 split rings. Not something you'd want for general purpose fishing, but if you're a trout and panfish kinda guy, they're better than the pliers since they won't mangle tiny split rings. You can find them fo...

I've always loved a nice Cardinal 3
So I went ahead and bought myself one. I'm a gamblin' man when it comes to eBay, and the seller had some crappy photos, my favorite kind of seller. I ended up being the sole bidder and got a very clean example for a price even less than the more beat looking ones go for. Not leaving good enough alon...

Re: Steez CT SV strength
I use my Alphas CT for steelhead frequently, spooled with 20lb Power Pro and an 8lb Big Game leader, it works great. Most of the fish are from Huron and Erie, weighing 5 to 10lb with a few a little bigger. I typically throw #3 Mepps, 2/5 Little Cleo's, and 3/16 Hot n Tots. Nothing to really worry ab...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
What is everybody's opinion on the AMO 30mm Alphas/Steez/Millionaire CT spool? I have one on order and curious as to what I should expect from a performance standpoint. I typically fish for trout and it appears to be like a good spool for that. I plan to spool it with some 8lb J-Braid. I'm currently...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?
I contacted the Japanese shop that rhymes with rat, the Finetail Glass will be out at the beginning of June. They were even kind enough to let me reserve one, so I told them I wanted the 4'10" casting model and they'll let me know when it's ready to ship out. I can't wait, been looking for a decent ...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?
It looks like Major Craft is adding some glass to their lineup. I wonder when they will be available? I really love my 4'5" L Finetail. https://www.majorcraft.co.jp/roditem/13957 Hmmm...interest is piqued I was emailing with somebody from one of the Japanese tackle shops and was told they are to st...

If you want to spend the money, Daiwa now has the Silver Creek Glass Progressive which is available in a 4'6" casting variant. The blank is composed of 69% glass and 31% carbon. I've toyed around with getting one but I have far too many rods already. They run about $400. https://www.daiwa.com/jp/fi...

Re: My Daiwa Millionaire CT SV70 SHL finally came.
Looking good! The Millionaire CT is my most favorite out of my arsenal. Many complain about the 10 step brake but I haven't found it problematic. If you want some good BFS capability, grab a RCS SV700S spool and a set of Hedgehog Air BFS bearings, it'll comfortably and reliably cast 1.5g no problem....

I use covers for both. I'm usually stomping trout streams so I assemble my rig by the car then hoof along.

Have a look at the Ameriglass blanks, they come in 5'3" UL, 5'6" UL, 5'9" UL, and 6' L. They run between $100 and $150 depending on where you get them.

Procyon LT spool compatibility?
A friend of mine picked up a Procyon LT 2000 and now he's looking for a shallow spool for trout fishing. Which SLP spool would fit his reel? From what I've read, the Procyon shares a lot with the Tatula LT. Is it safe to assume a spool for a Tatula LT would fit the Procyon?
