Re: Fenwick

Gillchaser, I really wanted to post it on your 5 footer thread but this picture deal is beyond me. I can email you a picture and you can post if you chose. It is a fun rod and brings memories every time I use it. Sign up for Photobucket account. It's free . Then just copy and paste the "IMG " line ...

Re: Fenwick

This thread made me go to the garage to look at my old Fenwick ultra light. This does go back a ways. The rod is glass 5'6" 2 piece, rated for 1 to 4 lb line with a lure rating of 1/8 to 1/4. It has a Tennessee handle. I think it was purchased in the late 60's or early 70's. The label says it weigh...

Re: Fenwick

Congrats ! That's awesome customer service . I've forgotten how long the warranty is on the River Tech rods . Need to get mine out and put to work . Gillchaser Warranty is limited lifetime. Mine was purchased in 2011. Now that you mention it , I remember registering mine on line . That's why I get ...

Re: Rapala Ultra light Pop

I've ordered a couple . I'm looking for something in between a micro Pop R and their next size up , I think tiny Pop R . I've looked at the Micro Pop R and the single hook didn't look right to me . I'm not sure it'd balance right or give a good hookup with bluegills . I like the baby Hula Popper , b...

Rapala Ultra light Pop

Anybody try them ? Seems they've been out for a couple of years ,but I've not seen them in any stores I shop . I'm going to probably have to order a couple . A 1 1/2" popping topwater bait . Should work for gills and LM bass . I love topwater fishing . At 1/8th oz , I could throw it on my UL casting...

Re: Five Footers

A totally new combo . I picked up another 5' SC Triumph UL this morning , around noon my new reel and spool of Viscious 2# Hi-Vis line arrived . The reel is a Pflueger President 6920 . Put it all together and after lunch met a friend of mine at a pond another friend lives on . First fish caught on t...

Re: Five Footers

This is probably my favorite right now . A St Croix Triumph 5' Moderate action with a Shimano Symetre 500 spooled with 2# PLine . Shown here with a decent little shellcracker I caught this afternoon on a black Trout Magnet. Gillchaser

Re: Five Footers

As I fish through my collection of five footers , I'll try and post a picture of each combo along with a catch , if I'm lucky enough to catch something that day . I invite others to do the same . I'd like to see some of the outfits you guys are using , from the Shakespeare's to the JDM'S . Take a pi...

Re: Another 500 size reel option ...

I've thought about the Cabelas/Daiwa offering but every time I make the hour+ drive to check one out , they're out of them . My favorite right now would have to be my Symetre 500FL . I also like the last model 500 Sahara , I just wish they'd left the previous model's handle on them . The newest look...

Re: Five Footers

I picked up a new one today on my trip to Gander Mt. . It's one of their rods in the Advantage series . Five feet , UL , moderate action . IM-6 . A nice looking rod for $40 . They had one with a slit grip style in what they called Panfish series , but it felt a little fast for what I was looking for...

Re: Shimano Sahara 1000Fl review

Well , I got handle a new Sedona 1000 . Same deal . The reel body is too close to the foot . I think they call this body a M compact . I got to checking on other models and it seems all of the upper priced models have the G Free body , even the new Stradics and Ci4's . I found an old new stock Spire...

Re: Shimano Sahara 1000Fl review

I'm going out shopping today . The new Sedona has been out for awhile . I have seen them but didn't handle one . It's has a different body style and no X-Ship or Hagane gears . One less bearing . $10 less in cost . That's why I went for the Sahara , more features , more bearings for only $10 more in...
