Re: Daiwa SV103XS Spool tension clicker
Does anyone know if this would this also retrofit to a Pixy or Alphas? Great work!!!! it would not. the knob for the td-z/steez/ect, is too big in diameter to fit on the pixy or alphas sideplate That is truly disappointing. @jjbassnforfun: I think that should be your next project, lol! If you can f...

Re: daiwa pixy brake dial problems
there is a very small washer that goes at the end of the screw assembly, that can fall out if you disassemble the side plate. if it does, the screw will over tighten very easily, and will not allow the dial to move well. part number for that washer is f63-7701 also check for cracks in the part of th...
Re: gears
The Metanium 13 has an aluminium drive gear with very small teeth and is super smooth. I think gear 'roughness' is reduced in Shimano reels by supporting the pinion gear at both ends with a bearing (x-ship). Many Daiwa reels, of course, have had this feature for many years..... Re: Why spool is so important
the heart of the reel is the spool and braking combination. it is really hard to explain, but when it's just right(which is subjective, by the way), you know it!

Re: the other 'daiwa death screw'
Or you could do what I did with my Monoblock... send it to the guru. Great tip. Are there any other things that may be sitting around the house, that would be functionally similar to those vice grip pads? Maybe like a piece of pine wood? :D just something that won't scratch or bend the alumin...

Re: 2016 Shimano Metanium MGL picture
the MGL is spectacular!! silky smooth feel, very capable spool( i cast some really light stuff with it while testing one), and very much less finicky brake system than the '13 met.
