Re: How hard is it to flush and re-lube bearings
I'm guessing there was a large amount of info on this before the global wipeout. I have no doubt I can do this, but my fear is I am going to screw up a reel that is already in good working order. I have mostly Abu Garcia Revo's. 2 2009 STX-HS 1 2009 PRM-L 1 2010 STX 1 2010 SKT-L 1 BPS Pro Qualifier...

Re: Core 50MG true drag rating?
I have tested 2 Core 50MG reels and both were just a hair over 7lbs. I think the TT review is closer to reality than the manufactures specs.
But to make all things equal, I had put Shimano drag grease on the washers. Not a lot but enough to make it slick.

Re: Shimano Chronarch D vs. Abu Garcia REVO Premier
I actually found these reels at a tackle shop not to far from here and held them. Both seem extremely nice. I believe the Chronarch feels alot better in my hand then the REVO does. The only concern I have is the drag on the Shimano. If I happen to catch a 30 lb striper, would the drag fail being it...

ABU knobs (REVO) are a size of their own.Cisco wrote:Is there any way to keep the handle? ie just remove the knobs?D.R. wrote:Put a Daiwa Zillion handle on it. Re: Grease or oil the drive shaft bearing?
Driveshaft bearing should be greased because it is succeptable to water intrusion. It doesn't need to spin fast like a spool bearing. Well, another reason is I have a neat bearing greaser tool just for shaft bearings and pinion gear support bearings. :big grin: TB +1 The only bearings that need oil...

+1QuitLookinAtMyItos wrote:Honestly, grease will most likely serve you better as the parts around it are greased. Oil may make it's way to the greased parts around the bearing and may cause seperation, a mess, and some prematurely-worn parts. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Opinions on Super Lube and Rem Oil
Super lube is a little thick IMO. I've found it's great for synchronized levelwinds and roller bearings. I've never tried it in spool bearings... just seems that it would slow the spool down a tad much, but I've never tried. Rem oil, on the other hand, is extremely fast! I used to use it for spool ...

Re: Opinions on Super Lube and Rem Oil
I am starting to work on reels for other people after they heard how I clean and relubricate my own reels. I am also still learining. Does anyone have any opinions on Super Lube (temp range -45 to 450 F) and Rem oil? I am using Super Lube on all my reel work unless another brand is requested. I hav...

I have Premiers on all my rods from crank bait rods to flipping sticks. They handle anything you use them for.
