Re: Moving to lighter gear due to injury?
I'm 3 weeks away from the water due to injury and the itch is killing me. I'm battling tennis elbow and pinched nerves. Having issues just holding a rod. The Mexico story reminds me of myself. I love to throw frogs, flip, and big swimbaits. The last few years have really taken a toll on my body. I d...

Re: It’s 2023 so can we all now agree
Oh and the numbed the area around the hook with yet another needle. They tried to get it out but the forceps kept slipping because the hook would twist so much so I started reaching for anything I could grab to help pull while they pushed. Worst day imaginable Oh but it gets worse. It was the new g...

I here tell St. Croix might have "borrowed" that design from a gentleman. Some folks were none too pleased.

Re: First DC reel and DRT handle
Look at the new Fuji TCS reel seat. It will look cool with the reel. It has an exposed titanium locking nut. I'm not sure if it will match the reel.

I had to mail my More than XH to Japan to get the gears replaced after engaging the spool on a cast.

Re: What a Surprise
Nothing the Big 2 are doing excites me anymore. Their flair for fun and exciting JDM releases has gone away. Everything is silver or black. Even special editions like the HD, Silver Wolf, limited, and Gekkabejjin...why not have some fun? Rods are still somewhat fun but I got into building. Today, I'...
Re: Bates
It's funny to see people bash the quality online. It as.if they think a Steez is all metal when you crack it open. What I see is fairly high quality construction. There are really only 2 areas where I'm concerned. Gearing material: Daiwa gearing is has proven to be extremely durable. Even their alum...

Re: No Confidence in XXXXX?
You aint trowing those baits where you can put a spinner bait.
Nothing beats a spinnerbat in the hard cover. Love a chatterbait but they hang up too much.
If you don't fish much sticks, I can see it. But if you have sticks and brush, you gotta throw more spinnerbaits. Especially on a windy day.

Re: Tatula Signature Series
The 6'9" Skip Jig is hands down one of my favorite rods ever made. It is a great chatterbait rod when you need to rip them. It is a sweet big top water rod around cover for pinpoint casts. It was my go-to frog skipping rod until I started building customs. Not the most sensitive, but serviceable and...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
Avid frog fisherman...the Jackal Gavacho. People will say it is a great bait. I won't deny it gets bit often. The bait has a.great.action to walk and pop. BUT...the hook design is garbage. It has the worst hookup ratio of any frog I have ever tried. The hooks are oddly shaped, angled, and to "weedle...
Re: Shoes?
I ruined my feet and arches fishing in sandals for years in my mid 20s. I used to think the sandal tan was a badge of honor... Now I have flat feet, knee problems, and wish I had listened to dear old dad about "good shoes for your feet". Buy good running shoes, good socks, and consider an insert if ...

Check out this old video of Mark zona. Https://youtube.com/watch?v=kY6pj-BAuLA&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE It's funny that the guide wrap in the video is crap. They have some of the worst fit and finish. My buddy has a few and there are gaps in several wraps per rod. I recently started building and was sho...

Learned the hard way on a Complex that had to go back to Japan for service.
JDM baitcasters are easy compared to spinners when you have an issue.

Re: Spinning Guides
I just ordered KR 20h, 10h , 6M , 5.5kb , 5kt set for an NFC build. The 20H ring is smaller than I was expecting. It is much smaller than the guides on the expride 610ML. I know most folks go straight to smallest runners but I like the step down look to my eye. First spinning build. Usually go 10,6,...
