Re: Need a jig suggestion

The weight would be variable, fishing in the great lakes can bring alot of wind, and sometimes the only way to maintain contact is the weight up, even using the electric to slow the drift, 4-6 ft waves put a serious damper on your ability to feel the bottom/bites. Line would vary with water clarity....

Need a jig suggestion

hey guys, I need a suggestion on style/brand of jig. I am looking to fish a jig much like you would a football jig, but with one caveat. This jig will be fished anywhere from 8' to 20' of water, and likely dragged on a drift , much like a tube. This jig will not likely encounter rock, as I plan on u...

Re: HELP!

Get yourself a some SPRO frogs. Get some lead wire, or some other kind of flexible material that you can use for weight. Pull the frog body back up the hook shank and wrap the wire around the shank, add as much as you think you need to make the frog push more water. Push the body back over the wire ...

Re: Using braid for all lures!

I think you need to do more research before going out and buying a bunch of braid. There are three main line catagories for me (though I know there are in theory more). Mono - I use this for topwaters like spooks, poppers, and on my close quarters spinnerbaits for roll casting.. why? I want stretch...

Re: Going Tactical with Numa’s Durable X-Frame Optics

Is the Mandarin polarized or no? Anyone retail these or buying direct the best way to go? Read the review again and answered my own questions. Ordered online from extreme oufitters for $10 less than list, and used a coupon for %10 off purchase. A great purchase for under $100. Can't wait to get the...

Re: T. Scroggins with his choice for a fluoro knot.

I am assuming he doesn't complete that knot, that the loop needs to then get taken around the hook like a palomar?

Re: Using braid for all lures!

Lets think about this for a second. If you are having to back off the drag for fear of ripping hooks because you dont have enough give between your braid/rod combo, you are going to keep losing alot of fish. ie: drag buttoned down, line and rod combo has some give. When you set the hook on that fish...

Re: Line for jerkbaits

I use FC. Nylon mono's floating properties cause it to form a bow between the rod tip and lure, causing you to lose some contact with the lure. FC will sink the bait a bit on a long pause, but for any other retrieve, it just stays low enough to maintain good contact with the bait. Plus, there are of...
