Besides you need to take them out before you realise you just flipped a 20 pds pike

Re: Levante Flippin Special for light punch rod?
So I decided to just do it right and get a full blown punching rod. I have access to the Levante at a great price, but I just scored a new Champion 805 Flip at a steal. I have my pitching and flipping sticks in the Envy line already, so why not just go full tech spec right? I want to add either the ...

Re: Levante Flippin Special for light punch rod?
Is the Zillion JDM 8 footer any more moderate than what we've mentioned ala Tatula and Envy? Anyone?

Re: Levante Flippin Special for light punch rod?
I have a 711H Envy for punching currently, as much as I love the power and the fast tip, I do want to try something more moderate. The Tat would just be more of the same I fear, and I want something approaching 8ft anyways. I would love to get my hands on Bub's Punch Rod, but no one carries them nor...

Levante Flippin Special for light punch rod?
Just as the title suggests.
I won't ever see a fish over 7lbs, and don't have to deal with the crazy Florida veg up here in Canada. What do you guys think?

Re: Metanium MG7 vs Aldebaran MG7
The Met Mg7 was the Core 100 equivalent. It is a different reel. It has the Chronarch D body. Much more round, and in my hands, comfortable than the 50 size. And I've got no qualms with the 50's. I just really like that D body.

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?
Easy fix. Test bare blanks. Make it a metric in the custom rod building world. They already have tons of specs about blanks that are never discussed publicly by big rod companies, like RDO. Built rods introduce too many new factors in how pleasurable a rod feels in your hands. Let the consumer decid...

Re: Casting Rods... What will you spend?
I try to target the 300 range, looking for deals and closeouts on vetted performers that were formally much more expensive. I initially filled my stable with cheaper available stuff like Quantum, then slowly started to isolate techniques that I really leaned on and then what I valued in that setup. ...

Need a market value...
So normally I would just check online shops, ebay and kijiji/craigslist for market value on items, but I really don't ever see these come up for sale anymore - BDB Wood Floating Gill in a kind of dark purple gill pattern. Some minor, minor hook rash, spent some time in a plano with other baits, but ...

Re: Preferred reels for distance
Any idea what the difference might be between the Curado and Citica E spool. Is there a slight weight difference? I have a Citica E but no longer have a Curado 200e to test it with. It is a different spool no doubt. The Citica has the older plastic style break block holder and not the thin metal po...

Re: Preferred reels for distance
If anyone has a Citica E, find a Curado E spool and install it. Flush stock bearings with acetone or upgrade. Something about tolerances between the reel and spool combo makes it very wild and free. I have to turn the brakes up more than I would normally for that platform. The distance I get on bigg...

Re: Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon XL Professional Grade
I believe I fished 25lb for flipping a couple of years ago and didn't like how it fluffed up on the spool. But that was after using braid for years. I am full time flouro now for all but punching. I should try it again and see if it was just my learning curve with managing flouro.

For the hardcore crankbait addicts.
There is always lots of talk about 'tuning' a crankbait. Mystical assertions that some baits have 'it' and some that don't. What is 'it' exactly for you? When I tune a bait, (beyond getting it to track true) I want as tight a wobble as possible. I find that a tight wobble seems to put more water pre...

Re: True Wake Baits
I usually fished the DT wake with short casts and rod tip help high if I want to fish very shallow or surface, but in a crankbait style. But my favourite is now the LC wakebait. With the jointed body, it seems to be more geared toward a slow slither rather that a quick retrieve, which I finally figu...
