Re: Hot weather and Trout Magnets
Do you fish those things with a float or just the head and plastic? Because of the pickerel issues you mentioned I can never make myself go below 4-6lb mono, but have yet to find a rod that will cast just the head/plastic very well with such "heavy" line. Most of the time I fish them without a floa...

Re: Hot weather and Trout Magnets
Broke out my black 7’ Daiwa Procyon UL . Paired with a Shimano Symetre 500 with 2# Visious . Paid a visit to a friends property who lives on a nice size pond . The only problem is he has about 200 feet of shore located in the shallow upper end of the pond . Though I might catch a couple gills , but ...

Hot weather and Trout Magnets
Got up into the 90’s today . Hard to find a shady spot to fish . Got to throw some Trout Magnets for two to three hours today . 6’ Daiwa Procyon UL with a Shimano Sahara 500 and 2# P-Line . I spent Almost an hour fishing Big Lazer PFA that gave up four , three gillls and one small warmouth . Then wh...

Looking a picking up a couple new reels and was wondering if the line capacity of these reels accurate ? Especially in the 1000 size reels . 250 yards of 4# line ? 160 yards of 6# 110 yards of 8# ?

Re: Daiwa Tatula LT1000
In the last year or so I tried a few Daiwa spinning reels in the less than $100 range . I liked the Fuegos probably the best , but most of the reels only come in a 1500 or larger size . The Tatula comes in a 1000 and is lighter than a Shimano 500 . Two years ago Shimano started changing all their re...

Searched back and found this old thread. Thought I’d dig through my outfits one day when it’s raining outside and see if any of my latest purchases weigh any lighter . Gillchaser

Re: YouTube EnjoyFishing !!!!
When talking lure weights. Listing them in grams makes them sound like they are lighter than they really are . A 5 gram lure is almost 3/16ths of an ounce . That’s a pretty heavy lure to be called UL IMO . 3.5 grams is around 1/8oz. About the upper end in UL . Actually I consider UL to be under 1/16...

Re: YouTube EnjoyFishing !!!!
I have a 5’4” UL casting rod from a one piece UL spinning blank I had built for fishing with a Zebco Omega Z02 UL spincasting reel . I tried it using a Daiwa Exceler baitcasting reel . I could throw small spinnerbaits and crankbaits and some weightless plastics , but not any real distance. In these ...

Re: Soare CI4+, new 500 size shimano spin
Glad I bought a few Symetre 500’s , as well as a couple Sahara 500’s before they were gone .
I’m sure this is a nice reel, but priced out of my league . Gillchaser

Re: Long Light Power Rod
I own a St Croix 9' light moderate action Salmon Steelhead rod I use for long distance casting from shore , fishing micro jigs under a weighted float . A lot of rod for $109 . Someday I plan on picking up the 10'6" UL Slow action one they offer in the Salmon, Steelhead rods. Bet it'd be a hoot catch...

Re: Daiwa RG2000H-AB Spinning Reel for Ultralight Fishing
I just took delivery of a Daiwa RG2000H AB yesterday and took it out for a trail . I paired it up with a St. Croix Premier 7' UL Rod and for today some 4# PLine HiVis line . Didn't catch anything in the hour I played around with it , but the reel is very smooth and impressive for the $50 I paid for ...
