Shimano Core 51 MG7
I got 5 of these reels to clean for a friend of mine. I noticed the 3 sets of bearings I took out look like sealed bearings. These are stock from shimano. (2 ) of them on the side plates and 1 under the main gear in the frame. Can these bearings be cleaned or are the permanently sealed? I normally c...

Re: Small bearing greaser
Packing bearings with grease is a touchy subject. To much grease and the reel feels stiff and harder to turn the handle. Not enough grease and it lacks the protection needed. Finding the right grease seems to make a big difference as well. If fishing strictly freshwater, I wouldn’t worry about grea...

Re: Small bearing greaser
This is the one I own... Expensive little bit of kit but WORTH every dollar... An excellent tool for those oscillating worm shaft bearings in Stella's etc, that can't have their shields removed. Goes very well when coupled with Inox MX6 grease, thick enough to keep water out and light enough to kee...

Re: Small bearing greaser
I know for a fact that Alan Tani has them, as I was going to buy one, but didn't really see a need for putting grease in a small bearing. Below is the info he e-mailed me last April 2018. "Yes, got a bunch. "They are $60 with $7.20 for shipping. if that's ok, send me a check for $67.20 to 12362 ted ...

Re: Drilling an Avail 16ALD15 Spool
I would map out all the holes on a piece of paper with their center point for drilling (like a drilling template) like mentioned above. See attached Pic below. Then carefully tape (or glue spray adhesive) the template around your spool. Next center punch all of your holes centers on your template t...

So what kind of "thick" oil do you recommend?LgMouthGambler wrote:Really thick oil for the frame bearings, thinner oils for spool bearings.

Rocket Fuel Grease
Do any of you guys use this? What would be a good application for this on a baitcaster? Reason I'm asking is, I use rocket Fuel for all the bearings in my reel. This includes spool bearing, side plate bearing, cast control knob bearing, worm gear bearing and main shaft bearing. I find that my reels ...

Re: buying bearings in bulk
Thanks for the tips. I realize that on the whole Chinese bearings should generally be inferior to japanese bearings. I actually ordered abec 5 zz stainless for less than a buck a bearing. Minimal investment and I can try, if they work good I can order more. I always test all bearings for smoothness...

Re: Jighead Underspins with Gama or Owner hook
If you are pouring these yourself you can substitute the hooks you want or you can have them custom made to the hook you want also.
