Z man Jack Hammer

Post by nd1225 » Fri Sep 14, 2018 7:29 pm

Are they worth the extra funds?

I'm sure the question has been asked. Apologies if it has

My friend has both the original, and the Jack Hammer.
The real difference I could see was a heavier snap, and different paint job.
I like the heavier snap. I put LPO Duo-Lock 40lb snaps on my bladed jigs.

I marshaled for Jason Christie during an Elite series event and he threw a Jack hammer. He paid for them out of his own pocket too.

They are definitely made with better materials than the others.

They start the best out of any chatterbait i've used. no other brand comes close to it.

It also has the better hook, bait keeper, and hand tied skirt.

They are better than standard Z Man offerings, however most Japanese chatterbaits are in the same league with Evergreen.
Only difference, they can't be sold in US, because of the patent issues.

I know the first is the break blade but what's the second one?

I prefer Jackhammers because the blade starts up immediately on retrieve. Can make a big difference when your strike zone is right at the cast, i.e. when pitching it against vertical structure. I also curse myself every time I lose one because of the price, so I have regular $6 ones for situations where immediate startup is not as crucial.

The second one is Daiwa Steez chatterbait.
