Short strike worm harness

Post by ChitownSkunk » Sat May 23, 2020 2:31 pm

This is rudimentary, had a snell hook laying around.
thinking up ways to combat short strikes on bigger worms, ribbon tails, and even swimbaits. I know the worm harness has been around but I’d like to stick with my straight shank or screw lock hooks. For swimbaits, I know about adding stinger hooks etc. I need it to be Weedless, completely.
Anyone rig anything up like this or know of a quicker way.

Might depend on fish.

I had did so but back then I found it destroyed the desired action I want with the plastic worm. Consequently I got less strikes and it almost never hooks up either.

So in my endeavor, I gave up on it. It does make sense but the field test yield unproductive results.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

Let us know how this works!

I suspect that the force needed for a good hookset with the main (thicker-wire) hook might cause the thinner, smaller-gapped trailer hook to rip through flesh and not set if it were the only one in the fish's mouth.

My other concern, looking at your rigging, is that the shank of the tiny trailer hook is too protected by the body of the worm ahead of it to catch on the fish's jaw and force the point through the worm.

But maybe it would work better than I think.

you might look at this tool ( http://www.wigglerwormtool.com ). It would let you thread the leader within the worm.
