I will initiate this with a tip that I had received and practiced , practiced practiced. When using a jerkbait of any sort make the jerks on slack line.
I can’t tell you how many times, fish have just taken the bait and I see the line move or get Taunt or even jump. I really believe that the slack line jerk retrieve is key. If there is one caveat than that has to be line size.

I used to complain that my wife would bring me breakfast in bed.
Now I just eat it and smile. Makes her happy , makes me happy that it makes her happy
