Just received my Zillion 10

Post by Johnny A » Tue Nov 03, 2020 9:19 am

Seems to be more, umm, robust than the other small Zillion models. Were there any changes to the Zillion reels or this was built on the 1016 frame?

I agree, it does feel more robust than the standard Zillion SV TW, though it uses the same spool and same basic frame design. The handle side plate is aluminum, the star is aluminum, it has zero adjust, and features the hidden brake dial and latch on the palm side plate. It not only feels more solid, but also more refined than the standard Zillion SV TW. I've fished mine on several different rods, but right now I have it on a Megabass P5 Killer Code and have been throwing a full sized Vixen on it quite a bit. It has been a blast fishing buzz toads and buzz baits with Zillion 10 too!

follow up/post script:
I took the new Zillion 10 matched with my recent Omori Tatula Elite 7’ composite today and hooked into the largest largemouth of my life. I recently posted a LMB we figured for about 7 lbs on show and tell, the one I had today dwarfed it! Probably close to 10 lbs. I lost it at the boat when I was reaching down for the net because I knew I couldn’t have boat flipped and I didn’t want to risk a face full of trebles.
About the only thing that’s keeping this grown man from crying is it wasn’t in a tournament and I don’t keep my catch.

Ugh, that's heartbreaking man.

Lost about an 8-pounder a month or so ago and while it isn't a PB, it's been 10 years at least since I've seen one that big on the line.

I still see the sequence in my head from time to time haha.

This is exactly what my thoughts are when comparing the 10 to my 1016 TW SV reels and more like my JDM1516.
I like the palm side hidden brake feature a lot.
I just want these to come out in the 7.1/6.3 gear ratios

Most likely....But gonna see what they do in 2021.
Due to some of the reduction in pricing on the current Zillion SV TW overseas--it will most likely happen in Japan first.

I already bought another one. After 1 day on the water with it. Honestly, it was like after 15 minutes and that’s being stingy.

i use 8:1 tat sv's for plastics & jigs, but i don't really want anything faster than that, so i haven't even thought about getting the 10. it sure would match the steez ags rod better though lol

I like certain qualities of the old platform, but the zillion 10 really feels like a more refined reel. I have blue scl star drags on mine.

Quite snazzy, as the young people say.

I'm seeing these for as little as 275. Tempting but I don't like the way the Tatula CTs palm.
