The little plastic shaft in the spool tension knob that touches the side of the spool.SSS wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:21 amBearings are perfect. But what is this plastic pinion support shaft? I did have some bur on the pinion gear where the spool pin would be lodged in, which i sanded off thinking this was the issue, but it wasn't. I might get this clicking vibration, then i re-engage the clutch, and its gone. Since its going away from re engaging the blutch once or twice, it makes me think its related to the pinion gear.LowRange wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:48 amCrunchy spool bearings? Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?

Just checked, no bur nor any kind of deformations.LowRange wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 12:07 pmThe little plastic shaft in the spool tension knob that touches the side of the spool.SSS wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:21 amBearings are perfect. Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?
I've a sol that does exactly what you're describing. Tried a new spool pin, pinion gear, spool bearing, etc.. Sounds like the spool knocking around after engaging like it's not fully seated in the pinion.
I've a couple other alphas spools that work fine in the same reel, just that one that causes the problem. Maybe it's slightly tweaked out of alignment?

Funny you mention this, i too tried another spool and it was gone. Hmmm.PaBass75 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 3:58 pmI've a sol that does exactly what you're describing. Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?
I routinely use the Alphas 103, Sol, Airy Red Pixy, Alphas CV CT, and SV 105. So fun to use!!
Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?
Still using all my alphas along side Alphas SV TW. The only regret I have is selling the SV, but I have SV spool in alphas 103 instead.

What rods are you using? I absolutely love my Alphas (SV105), but it is only on a TFO ML with 7lb Fluoro. Just wanted to know how you were running your Alphas, thanks.Just_Bass wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 5:52 pmStill using all my alphas along side Alphas SV TW. Depends on reels and techniquesDirtyD64 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:54 amWhat rods are you using? I absolutely love my Alphas (SV105), but it is only on a TFO ML with 7lb Fluoro. The Sol I use for jig pair with MH/F Daiwa Tatula 12lb izorline
Purple Alphas (sv105 spool) for wacky rig, Neko rig, 1/4oz topwater/Jerkbait M/F crucial or ML Zodias.
Airy red 6lb izorline, for open hook type application, dropshot, small paddle tail swimbait or small weightless plastic. ML/F Compre jig/worm rod or L/F Majorcraft (bfs rod)
Yellow pixy 15lb braid mostly MH/XF Daiwa Tatula
Alphas SV TW 10lb FC, Senko, Fatika M/F crucial.
Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?
All sounds good. I figured they were all generally lighter duty setups, I was correct. I don't do much over MH techniques.
