JDM Drop Shot Reel Shallow Spool
Guys,
I have a Certate Custom Finesse 2004 that has....not been the solution for my light drop shot reel, when using 4 to 6#. The anti reverse bearing has died and the drag sounds like I'm grinding coffee. I expected more of the reel, but alas.
I started looking at Shimano's USDM offerings and quickly realized that they do not make any shallow spooled spinning reels.
The 1000 bodies are a bit too small for my tastes. The 2000 bodies are what I'm looking for, but nothing with a shallow spool. Nothing more fun than having 200 yards of line when you'll only use 40.
I pulled the trigger on a Complex CI4 2500S, which seemed to fit the bill. I'm looking to get another similar model, and was wondering what other models you recommend that come with the shallow spool standard.

Get any number of JDM offerings from Shimano or Daiwa that are offered with a shallow spool. Brian.
Are you fishing or aimlessly casting around?

I use a Shimano Vanquish 2500SHG for lighter line (6#) drop shotting (ned rigs, small senkos, and wacky rigs). There are other models within the Vanquish line that offer more shallow (or larger) spools. Reel has performed great and isn't that far off from the Stella models (and is priced considerably less).
Here's a chart of the different ones:

I'm really enjoying the daiwa luvias lt 2000s. It has been a big step up over my stradic FL1000s in pretty much all aspects. I like the newer MQ body design over the previous daiwa reels, I actually prefer the luvias over my older 2015 exist 2004.
From the shimano side I've heard nothing but great things from the vanquish line and if you don't mind a little bit more weight I know the twin power is an excellent reel.
