Casting rod for 1/8oz Okashira Screw Heads and 3” spark shads

Post by Jdmbassman » Mon Jul 05, 2021 5:12 am

Looking for a casting rod for 1/8oz Okashira Screw Heads and 3” spark shads.

Tried the P5 Bait Finesse but the tip to me anyway doesn’t seem to be in tune with this bait to cast very well.

Was thinking one of the following so if you have one, I would appreciate you letting me know how they fish as well as message me if you want to move one along;
* EVOLUZION (C40-HDTS) - ESTOQUE F2.1/2-66ti
* Phase III - F3-67X Eiger Northwall
* TRIZA - Sparna F2-66XTZ

Tight lines chaps

What reel are you using/planning to use? I’ve been launching Okashiras (and casting under a few docks) in the last two weeks, and to me the reel is a bigger difference maker than the rod.

I should add that I’ve thrown these baits on a NRX+ 852 with Curado BFS and K2 713 with SV Light. The NRX + Curado BFS bombs the bait very far even though I don’t consider that rod to be a great caster. The K2 loads up even better. But especially the NRX + Curado BFS combo is what makes me say the reel really matters.

An Aldebaran MGL with Sniper 7lb.

Agreed on the reel score, think I might give the new Alphas Air TW a try also

Coincidentally the Aldebaran 50 MGL is the non-BFS reel I run on that 852. There’s a difference when throwing light tackle for sure, I’d give a BFSish reel a try first.

Freelancer27 suggested the Alpha Air TW to me (but I already got two reels for that rod), seems like a good/popular choice :)
