Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Just a bit curious about this as I went out today with my Steez bottom contact rod which I really enjoyed today. I started to think of maybe regrouping and getting the Jigga stick as I lost out on a deal in the past.
Still the jigga stick was popular however some point I know felt it wasn’t a traditional jig rod because it has a more parabolic taper than some USDM jig rods. After thinking about that for a while I was looking to see what was Evergreens top jig rods. I know some maybe hard to find which is why I asked for more than one.
Although I have shifted some of my jig sticks to plastics I do keep two or more rods with jigs tied on. I’d like to try and collect one for the JDM side

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Black Raven Extreme RS. My time is limited with this rod as I have not had it long. Incredibly sensitive and the rod is "smooth." Crisp, fast taper. And yes, the sensitivity is on par or maybe better than an NRX.
Black Racer. Extra fast rod, really sensitive. Better choice for finesse jigs up to 3/8 oz. TT has a review of this rod in the archive.
Egoist. Lot more backbone than the other 2, kind of a MH+ in my view, closer to the Gloomis 844. I regret selling the one that I had.
Evergreen Stingray Has the infamous solid (or stinger) tip. Technically, it is a light finesse rod (TT has a review of this one as well), but for BFS sized jigs (think 3 to 5 grams), it can handle those with ease.
Hopefully, some others will chime in w/thoughts on the Gunslinger or other models. Those are just the ones that I have experience with.

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
I still think you should consider the Racing Design.

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
man that stick is lovely, the pictures really bring that out but the bend as illustrated in the photo seems to be more to MY liking as
they say "a picture speaks volumes"!
Definitely still considering after seeing the picture. Thanks !

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
If you need anymore information on it let me know, I have a IP79L on mine, it balances out really well.
Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Wow
That answer all my questions
I was thinking about the lightness of the rod and how it’s probably best suited for a Steez reel. On my two bc rods I have IS73 and IS79 and on my racing design texas rig special a Steez sha
that being said. I have a OG Zillion on the shelf that I didn’t want to get rid of but iot buy another rod be it the jigga stick or a jig rod from evergreen
I had considered selling a couple reels that aren’t really being used. So you’re response had greatly helped me because I’m not gonna sell.
Thanks again

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
I think a Steez A or SV TW would be slightly too light, especially a OG Steez, a OG Zillion like the one you say you have, will work quite well.
I have Steez SV TW on my RD STZ RD 701MH/HXB-ST that reel is a perfect match, I felt that a heavier reel felt "off".
The highlighted area is about where the IP79L balances on the Jigga Stick with a full spool of 12lb flourocarbon.

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Evergreen Rapid Gunner would be more of what I would consider a true jig rod that can handle sparse to heavy cover. The Black Raven Extreme would be more t-rig plastics or lighter stuff for my style anyway. I would give the edge to Evergreen slightly in sensitivity over the Racing Designs. To me the JDM tapers are much more smooth loading on hooksets if that makes sense. If you’re a reel down and then load up kind of person you’ll love the feel.
Jigga Stick is very very stout feeling and has more traditional US-market feel when you crack a hard hookset. I haven’t found any Evergreen rod I would compare it to really. If you’re a hookset-on-slack kind of person you’ll love the impact this rod generates.
Lots of great offerings. I’m amazed how much I fish the Jigga Stick. Fits a lot of my heavy cover fishing very well and is way way more powerful than you’d picture without handling one in person. Did I mention it’s stout?

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
What material is used on the jigga stick's reel seat? Specifically, the red accented simulated blank on the underside. Is it a 100% carbon tube the blank plugs in to?
Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Here's a example of the Black Raven Extreme incredible rod, perfect balance, downright criminal sensitivity.

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
When you describe the sensitivity that way, we all need one !

Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Sensitivity on par or better than an NRX, every other rod characteristic, head and shoulders better.
Re: Evergreen Top 5 Jig rods ?
Definitely better than the NRX sensitivity wise, the NRX and now the NRX+ is hanging on based off it's initial accomplishments when it was first released, the build quality and balance is also better its not even close, but honestly your average budget rod usually has a better build quality then a NRX.
