I really wish they had a 101 here in the states.
What are you guys using the 201 for?
-21 200 DC: Northern pike with 50-65lb braid.
Nice, I have a 101hg 2014 model.
I just ordered new gears today, but this reel does not need them yet, its still super smooth, I just wanted to order
them incase Shimano decides to discontinue selling CQ 2014 parts.
Can anyone explain what this means?
Does the 21 model just sit lower on the rod?

The top of the spool does.
They've gone to a smaller diameter spool, i assume to get better start up.

Before I forget to reply... they’re the same
Would you say there is a difference in smoothness between the two?
I had the 201 HG CC DC and sold jt after 3 months because it got grindy.
Thanks Cal!
That's interesting. I've used my Conquest DC 201HG mainly for light saltwater fishing and had landed some fast and sizable critters on it with no issue. I do flush down the reel diligently after each use and send it in for servicing once or twice a year.
Here is a Queenfish that I landed (and released) last month. It maxed out my 15lb Boga, but I'll call it at maybe 17-18lb. It did a blistering 80-100m first run followed by multiple shorter runs afterwards and took about 20 minutes to land. The DC 201HG handled it just fine.
Fortunately, the DC 201HG is still tight and smooth after about 9 months of use. Hopefully it will continue to perform that way.
That's a fun looking fish. Kudos.

Hi Marduk, Can I check how much 50lb braid can you get into the DC200? Can you fit 100yds of 50lb in there?
Dunno sure how much, but just tested to spool Chronarch 200E7 and TD Daiwan Pluton 200 lines to Conquest spool and it's exactly same volume. I think it about 70-80m 65lb braid.

Thanks! Indeed the Queenfish is among the exciting gamefish in the tropics. They make long hard runs and love to jump when hooked. I can never get enought of them.

I've recieved today my 21 Conquest 101 HG and I'm a little bit worried about it.
It seems to be a little bit noisy when retrieving but when I touch levelwing the sound disappear...
It's my first Conquest but speaking with friends who have the older model it doens't be normal...
I'll try to post a quick video.
