torn between the 2610UL/M and 2610L/MH...I like M backbone but want a slightly stronger tip. will be using it mostly for open water smallmouth fishing in 10-20 feet

Line spec on PG 2610UL/M is only 2.5 to 5lb, line spec on PA 2610UL/M is 1.5 to 8lb, line spec on PU 264UL/M is also 1.5 to 8lb, this leads me to suspect PG UL/M model is not as strong as the other two

anyone can shed a light?
the 2610UL/M was a sell out model in Japan. it has an UL tip and your reliable M backbone, when you need to guide the fish out of structures, weeds.

2610L/MH is an update/refresh of this hugely popular model, and its sold out pretty much everywhere. I've my order in about 6-9 months back, and I'm still waiting.

WRT to line spec, the rod has smaller guides. In Japan, and my side of the world, we are using mostly PE lines and/or super braids. thus, 4lb Nylon/Flouro dia is ~ PE1 dia which is about 20lb breaking strength. strong enough for bass fishing.

was in the states some years back, I find small mouths tougher to fish as compared to large mouths, mostly because they are in deeper waters, and can be more finicky about the lures presented to them sometimes. I believe this 2610L/MH rod will be a perfect nemesis for them.

will share more when my rod arrives. In fact, I have the new stella 22 waiting to be paired with this rod....
Thank you for the informative post! I'm always seeking to expand my deep-water smallmouth bass fishing efforts and have looked at these two rods in the past but always went with the Daiwa Steez 77mml due to their longer rod lengths as our water is very clear and long-distance casting and hooksets are the normal mode of operations for summertime finesse smallmouth bass fishing. I might have to give these rods a try despite their shorter rod lengths.

Please have a great day!

Personally, I find rods over 7ft 2 are better suited for shore casting.
Examples would be shore casting for sea bass, and giant snakeheads, offshore casting for Pelagics…
Downside of such rods, would of course be the cumbersome length which might increase the chances of snags, especially when there are overhanging trees etc nearby.

6ft10 is such a versatile length imho. You can even bring it along to fish tighter quarters such as ponds. Easy to control your pitch, and deft enough to do decent casts….

I have a 1610M-5pc Poison Ultima paired with an Antares DC. Absolute joy to fish with. Don’t have to worry about casting distance. I can cast a 3/4 minnow about 43m-45m out consistently without much effort.

I wanted to get the 21 174MH+ Poison Glorious, but it was sold out pretty much everywhere (or priced high if available). Kazu at JPAngler said they weren't getting a new batch until October for that rod (seems like some other models are coming sooner like May/June). Ended up going with a P5 Super Destroyer even if a slightly different intended application since I do a ton of dock fishing.

I am interested in the 6'4" medium heavy casting and the 610L/MH and 610UL/M rods. Anyone know any additional information on these rods? Wish japanese videos had english captions. I definitely eventually want the 6'4" to compare to my steez target sniper. Not sure between the two spinning rods what each one would excel at.

Not sure what type of info you are after, but I can tell you that these possibly have some of the lightest and most crisp blanks I've used. I was dragging a Carolina rigged worm around yesterday, and the feedback was incredible.

If you read through all the comments on this thread a guy specifically talks about the 64MH PG. I believe he said he was using it for jig and worm fishing from his kayak and called it the Bugatti of rods or something like that.

I looked at that rod for jerkbaits. The few comments I've read about the efreet have been favorable.

I've got the 7'4"XH Glorious on the way. I'll post some pics when it arrives.

I've been eyeballing the 6'7 medium Efreet. What little information I can find on this series has been quite positive, especially regarding sensitivity. How do you like the rod? Anything you might compare or contrast it with?
