20 Metanium YUMEYA shallow spool

Has anyone tried this spool yet? How does it perform? I’m wanting to use my Metanium for 6-12g baits w/ 20# braid and even the JDM spool holds way too much…also I hate having excessive backing underneath my main line.

Not having ever used the Yumeya spool for a 20 Metanium, I can't honestly say how it will perform but if it performs anything like other Yumeya spools, then it will work great for what you want to use it for. I bought Yumeya spools for my 07 Met and 13 Met not for BFS reasons, but for the simple fact is they hold a lot less line than the original spools and since I'm only fishing for largemouth bass, I don't need a lot of wasted line on my reels.

A friend who owns it said it definitely helped pushing the lower end of lure weights for distance, but the reel lost it‘s ability to take your thumb off and look the other way. I’ve yet to feel it myself. And I believe he’s using like PE 0.8ish braid, no mono.

I‘m awaiting the Rays finesse spool for the Met, should arrive within a week or two. Ordered it because of curiosity and not willing to pay for the Yumeya for a curiosity purchase

I have it. It definitely works as described.

I throw 1/16 oz crappie jigs on it with either 4 lb fluoro or 8 lb brain. Works really well with both.
