That's crazy light if it truly fishes like a medium heavy.Cranky wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 8:25 amI think the RC 68MH is just starting to fill pre-orders. Im not even sure if any consumers have them yet at this point. I’m in the same boat with those same two rods. Been a longtime EG and RD user and so far for me anyway, based on the digging I’ve done, I would give the slight edge to the RC rods over the EG.
I don’t really understand the omission of some of the next gen materials in the new EG spinning rod lineup when the new casting rods are leaning heavily toward M40X blends. Maybe there’s a surprise yet to come though. The Spider Spin is T1100G full tubular. I bet on the water they fish pretty similar but in the price ranges they’re talking… I honestly expected a little more blank evolution. The RC68MH is going to be significantly lighter in weight. The new EG 63L is 87 grams and I suspect the Spider Spin will fall between 100-110 grams…
…the RC68MH is 84 grams. 84! It’s lighter than the EG 63L so that tells me there’s a little more “magic” baked into the RC than Daiwa is divulging.
That’s my 2 cents. I think both will be spectacular rods and I’ll likely end up with both eventually anyway.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Quick review on the S68MH. Very impressed.
It’s not just plain black! Has a slight gunmetal sparkle to the grip material, significant holo-sparkle on the reel seat and blank above, clean gloss black in the blank on the butt end. The carbon guide wraps are gorgeous. Might not be for everyone but looks very nice to me anyway. It’s not overly blingy but has some good pop in person without being all sorts of crazy colors or whatever. Like a simple and gorgeous black/chrome exotic car, timeless. Will try to show this in pics as best as I can.
True TRUE crisp, fast action MH power rod with a very sharp and responsive tip. Think of a super premium MH casting rod in spinning rod clothing. The kind of rod that can fish a smaller T-rigged plastic, small hollow body frog, or lighter skirted jig and can jack them on the hook set. Very happy with the tip stiffness that can properly work a bait, it is not spongy whatsoever.
Balance is perfect. 3-fingers in front of the reel foot perfect with a 200-gram class reel (Exist 4000 or similar weight) and just very slightly tip down with a 160-gram class reel (Exist 2500 or similar weight).
Weight is as light as advertised (yes 84 grams!), swing weight is super nimble.
Will get some more time on the water with it and follow-up later. If you’re in the market for an actual MH spinning rod, it’s something to put on your radar.

Why are Japanese things so cool?
Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
My Real Control RC C73H-SV・ST is on track to be delivered today, the closest rod that I have to compare it to (on paper at least) is a NRX+ 873 CRR, that's been custom balanced.
I'll post a a few pics and a quickie comparison when it arrives.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
I'm definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on this one. I wonder how similar it will be to the Racing Design 701MH/HXB-ST in action...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
I can compare them once the Real Control comes in, but I'm sure the 701MH/HXB-ST is going to be quite a bit softer.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
It should be! I'm curious about the tip comparison more than anything both being designated as ST... The RD wasn't as "ultra extra fast" in action as I thought it would be on paper, which was a good thing, hoping the Real Control is similar.

Here's a few pictures of the tip comparison vs the Racing Design Hustler Finesse Tune, the Real Control is on the top, and the balance picture is with a Steez Limited SV TW with a full spool of 12lb Tatsu.

And finally here is a comparison vs a NRX+ 873 CRR, the NRX+ is on the top.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Bunch more fish on the S68MH. Absolutely love this rod and yes it has electric sensitivity. They’re not perfectly apples to apples but for me the Real Control S68MH fishes even a slight step up in sensitivity from the Racing Design S67ML+ (which I have a ton of time on). I much prefer the significant step up in power as well. It has a very sharp hookset and power to move fish.
Been fishing jighead/plastic on it mostly and the feel and operability is amazing. Daiwa really hit it out of the park on this one. Long live power spinning rods!

I'll find out this weekend, the Steez feels more livelyHogsticker2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 5:03 pmThey look similar, with the NRX shutting off a little sooner. I'm assuming that the Steez is a little more versatile?
