Rod weights seem on par with the new Poison Glorious (PG7'4" MH+ 10-42g 105g). Just pointing this out because for the current price of $4XX, the new PG with m40x is an absolute steal.
With ESS adding to RC blanks I would expect the sensitivity of RC series has to be noticeably better than PG, and Kyoya Fujita just keeps coming back how sensitive these rods are in his video of RC walkthrough.

I ran some side by side sensitivity test between my PG spinning rods (2610ML/H, 2610L/MH) and Steez AGS 71M and 71ML late last year, split hairs but Steez AGS seems a little tiny better in my hands...

Interesting, I didn't know M40X was used in Poison Glorious blanks. This kind of information is not always easy to find. How do you know? Did it come with the typical "TORAYCA M40X" badge?
I'm pretty sure M40X was mentioned when new PG was announced back in 2021, and some Japanese reviews I found on web still touting this as one of the selling points, however I wasn't able to find any clue on PG official site these days...which led me to wonder if M40X plays any big part in the blank.

the other thing is from what I heard Shimano basically put a stop on PG delivery due to the guide changes, with the exception of a few new models perhaps
Is this 'guide change' why I'm seeing some PG's listed as torzite and some listed as sic? Intetesting. On the m40x deal...TZ lure and another site or two mentions the use of m40x on the new glorious/ultima lines. However, Shimano makes no mention of blank material on their site. I even sent shimano.jp an email asking if the m40x was used on all models or just a few. I also asked what the difference was between Glorious and Ultima blanks. No response!

this is the link to guide change...
I saw a video of GongLei saying blank wise new PG and PU are basically same, but I think PU should have a better blank somewhere somehow given the price premium and being Shimano Flagship series ...have been trying to acquire a couple of PG models but no luck in the last little while. likely will have to wait till the new guides come out

Thanks for the responses. This sounds similar to the case of Exsence Genos rods, where M40X is said to be applied "in the right place" within the description of "Spiral X Core" technology (for some models), but the rods do not come outfitted with the M40X badge. On the other hand, many of Shimano's Limited series rods are indeed made on M40X blanks, and they appropriately carry the M40X badge. I certainly don't know first hand, but it seems the amount of M40X they apply "in the right place" may be minimal, perhaps below some threshold that would warrant carrying the badge.

I did run across some literature stating that M40X was used with the new Glorious. This was some time ago, but I know I read it.

Looks like Shimano erased all info about M40X graphite and PG series.
I definitely remember that this information was before the New Year.
They cannot keep up with rods material cost increase.

The RC S61L weighs 57 grams. 57! That’s astoundingly light and currently using all of Daiwa’s flagship tech.

I appreciate there are PG fans out there, I fish an Ultima 266L-5 that does use *some* undisclosed amount of M40X in the spiral X, but I’m not going to compare apples to oranges with the PG series.

That Ultima 266L-5 is the closest I can find in rod specs to the Real Control S61L-SV and in the previous Daiwa flagship Racing Designs it would have been the 65L+ spinning.

Steez Racing Design 651L+ - 79 grams
Poison Ultima 266L-5 - 77 grams
Steez Real Control 61L - 57 grams.

I see these are up on Tackle Haven....might have to spring for one later this year and give Steez another shot.

https://jdmtackleheaven.com/search?type ... al+control

I am partial to Shimano's PG line, because I was a JDM vergin until I picked up a '16 PG. Changed my life, lol.

I'd never noticed a badge on old or new models, so grabbed my new 7'H and older 7'H+, and I'm not seeing a badge....unless you can decipher that gold sticker.

This RC 61L is stupidly light indeed! I got a couple of JDM sticks in that range of weight but they are either for light salt game or area trouts, and targeting smaller fish by design. I saw Kyoya Fujita pulled in a look like 3+ small mouth using this rod without much fight!

Unless Daiwa has some secret recipe with their SVF Compile X they have to give away something to achieve such light weight though, most likely a thinner tabular blank IMO, which could potentially lead to a durability issue...in comparison Shimano PU 2511UL weights 80 gram, PG 264SUL + 82 gram, Evergreen Orion 64UL free will 94 gram, and the lightest rod in Daiwa own Steez line 66UL 82 gram...

not really a badge on the blank...one of the labels attached to the PG rod sleeve is Toray T1100G and #2574 high bending strength resin

I'm going to try and find the tags for my '21 7'H (carbon triangle gripped) PG. Somehow Shimano got them lighter....substantially so on a few models, like the 7'4" MH+. The '16 1100g 7-4" MH came in at 117g's. The '21 version was reduced to 105g's....just crazy light for that length/power rod. Anyway...It's a great era for rod junkies like myself!
