I've been fishing JDM rods with the "blank into the handle" design for well over a decade now. Granted, they are mostly higher end models so the quality and tolerances are above average. I've yet to have any issues with primarily Megabass, Daiwa, and Evergreen rods. I've put in a good bit of time with the new Megabass Triza line and am impressed with their overall design and performance in a three piece model. They are the first set of multi piece travel oriented rods that has really excited me as an enthusiast angler. To answer your question, there is always a chance that multi piece rods will slip and come apart, but often it's a result of user error or poor quality construction.
