Conquest BFS 2023
Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I can't take it anymore, ordering an Aldebaran right now.
Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I had planned for so long to get one but changed my mind. Ordered a HG Aldebaran BFS the second they came in stock, just gonna buy another Conquest 100HG for general duty unless I get the BFS crave.
Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I recently sold my Conquest 100 HG. Just had that genre covered too well. Charged back into BFS tho! Bought righty and lefty Aldebaran 22’s and a righty Gekka Bijin. The Aldebaran lefty is on a MC Finetail Glass 4-10, and the preordered Conquest lefty is going on a SC 5-1 Glass Progressive. Just put cork sealer on the two rods this afternoon. I’ll use these lefty outfits for stream trout. The Aldebaran righty is on an Alpha Hawk CU Double which was bought as a stop gap rod until I figure out exactly where I want to go with it. I intend to use it as more of a perch/crappie jig type outfit. The Gekka Bijin is on a custom Otterrod based on a 2-piece ML St. Croix blank and its intention is bass. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

Re: Conquest BFS 2023
That Silver Creek Glass Progressive is nice. I have to get some more time on bigger fish water to fully test it. Casts nice and can handle a wide range of lures.Smalleyez wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:09 pmI recently sold my Conquest 100 HG. Just had that genre covered too well. Charged back into BFS tho! It’s a really sharp looking rod and I think the new Conquest will be a great match for it both in performance and aesthetics.Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:18 pmThat Silver Creek Glass Progressive is nice. Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I have the 17 Conquest on mine right now. Just seems right, even if it is Daiwa/Shimano

Re: Conquest BFS 2023
Buying the Conquest 100HG has ruined me for Shimano. It is just a perfect reel and makes it hard to own others. That is why I went ahead and got the Aldebaran, it offers what I need, I don't always get to take the boat, so I will use a true BFS reel a lot. I would gladly buy another 100HG for around $370, but when it comes to $250-275 range reels, the Zillion rules that. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Metanium or Bantam knowing I'd have a short handle to change, no clicking drag, etc. I hope the next generation of these reels offers the clicking drag, I feel we will see that as a standard feature before long...Smalleyez wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:09 pmI recently sold my Conquest 100 HG. Re: Conquest BFS 2023
What are the options for replacing the ugly handle retainer without replacing the handle on the Conquest BFS?
Include some links or pics if you have any.

Re: Conquest BFS 2023
Just got a notice from plat, the Conquest BFS that I ordered back in January has been delayed til the end of May…:(
Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I assume you are talking about the handle nut retainer? I did change the entire handle on my Aldebaran BFS, but to do what you suggested, you'd need either a covered nut with a plate that locks the handle (stock 80mm one) or just a plate that covers the non-covered stock nut. Finding a plastic plate that overlaps and fits the handle is the biggest issue.
