I hope whoever reviews the Conquest BFS first has the regular 100/200 2021 Conquest too. I just wonder how much different they will be. The aluminum gears from my Aldebaran are alright. Felt a bit off the first weeks of use, but seem to be breaking in well. The new Conquest shares those gears, and loses Infinity Drive, I just wonder how much difference this will actually make...
I'll be doing the review on it but, don't have the 21 Conquest. The previous 100 (year 15 or 16) got plenty of use as well as the 17 Conquest BFS.

Anything in particular you are looking for in the review?

Really curious as to how it compares to the Aldebaran BFS too. I assume a more solid metal housing helps, but really still wish a for a comparison against the 100HG. I have sure talked that reel up a lot, but it has been deserved. The Conquest 100HG is the absolute pinnacle of bass fishing. Fast enough for bottom fishing, but the power to crank. It is truly an amazing reel to use, and I regret not ordering a second one recently. I just want to try new stuff, and would probably use the BFS Conquest more. Would also be tempted to try something else weird like the new SS AIR TW if it ends up not being much different than the Aldebaran.

It was a long wait, hope it lives up the hype. Never owning the model my first take is that it is a marvelous piece of engineering, but very lopsided heavy on the drive side. The setup, NS Craft 40mm single handle, Yumeya bamboo knob, 6lb Casket Plugin Nylon, M-Aire 5'3 UD Glass

Nice rigs there!

Has anyone received their CQ BFS 23 from Plat?

I’ve had every Conquest model including the last BFS and the only one still standing is my Conquest 50. That one along with the Abu 6500C that I bought on 1977 as a 17 year old with my high school graduation money is on the very short “never sell” list. That said I have a great affection for my JDM model 12 Conquest 100 with the swing-open side plate. A very underrated reel, I recently asked Ian Shields to go for it on a super tune and add anything he deemed would make a good real better. It is now exceptional. Al that said, this new Conquest BFS is beginning to call out my name.
I’ve seen a few people complain about the last two generations of conquests whether the BFS version or regular 100/200 version, getting geary quick. I don’t own any other Shimano of anything other than 17 Conquest BFS but I do know that if you look on Plat’s website and pull the pdf schematic, the part number 48 on the BFS, if not facing the correct way, will cause the reel to be geary and noisy. Seen a few people that cleaned their reels and made this mistake. Maybe that helps someone on here. I don’t know if the 100/200 has that same setup although I would imagine they do but the part numbers are probably different but it’s called the ratchet plate by Shimano and the complete flat side has to face the main gear.

I had seen a few random reviews claiming the Conquest had issues, but maybe like 3 reviews total. Most of those were using for saltwater and I think all were the bigger sizes (300/400). Not sure I have seen a complaint with the 2021 100/200 size. Hoping the newest version has its parts turned right, I feel like the issue you mentioned has gone around before.

Digitaka finally stocked some left hand XG and I was waiting for my paycheck to clear and they sold out :crying: I guess now I can at least wait for reviews before spending that cash

The Conquest BFS casts very similar to the 22 Aldebaran BFS. Retrieve is smoother and feels solid overall.

Is it worth the upgrade from the 17??? We will see :big grin:

Yep, there’s probably a lot of those reels out there that people have replaced gears on because it got noisy or put aside and not used simply because that part got turned wrong after they took it apart and put it in wrong. I’ve seen someone mention it before on this forum and I have made the same mistake myself but instantly knew something was “off” so took it back apart and found it. It’s just supple enough of a difference that some may not notice it at first but it definitely makes a rougher retrieve when not turned the right way.
