I was so pumped to see this thread (hoping it was a release). Been looking forward to an extremely solid, ultra-finesse reel. The 2021 Conquest is one of the greatest reels I have ever fished, and a BFS version of it would be perfect for me. I have really enjoyed the extreme light lure ability of the Millionaire CTSV, to take that a step further with a true BFS spool and add the smoother build of the Conquest would be a god-tier reel. I can't speculate much on if it will get produced, but I sure can wish for it.

Given Shimano's production history, I bet we will see it 2023. It will get the spool/brake update and HOPEFULLY faster gears. I haven't used the newest Conquest frame but, hopefully the frame they use isn't just a 100 size with a small spool slot.

Wood knobs would be cool too. There are more than enough BFS reels out there now that they can now target stream anglers a little more deliberately than back in 2017.

I'm thinking it will be based on the Calcutta 100 but with similar features as the '22 Alde BFS. We do have a little bit of history to go by in order to have a peek at what it may be. For Shimano to use a completely smaller frame would mean a higher MSRP, one which may make potential buyers reluctant to purchase. Besides, they have that palm side nailed down already, the Conquests palm great as is.

If it is the same 100 frame with a smaller slot, it will be fine I bet. I think the current 100HG I have is equal to or smaller than the previous BFS Conquest. My Conquest is the only Shimano casting reel I have at the moment, just hard to spend on anything else. The Bantam is nice, but no clicking drag and built for heavier lures.

I read this and I had to go inside the house and check if my previous model Bantam has a clicking drag and it does. Are you saying the new model Bantam does not have a clicking drag? Japan Tackle says it does.

They mean a clicking drag star I think. I am referring to a clicking drag (Shimano calls it "Exciting Drag Sound"). It is on the new Aldebaran BFS, Conquest 2021, and most of their other BFS reels. Daiwa has it on the new Zillion, and not sure what others.

I really think this feature will become standard for casting reels. It is so nice to have audible feedback when fighting a fish. Very important on light line reels like BFS reels, and I enjoy it on the Conquest/Zillion with 14lb/12lb fluorocarbon. Lets you know how you stand in the fight and when the fish is gaining on you. Also helps me on hooksets if I have it too loose and buzz drag when hook setting.

https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano ... -CONM.html

Tacklewarehouse has a Calcutta Conquest Monster Drive listed, no picture, just a place holder address/link.

This gives me hope that the Conquest is getting attention, sadly the opposite direction of the style I hoped for. I would love a 50 or BFS model, this will probably be a 300/400 size...

Gotcha. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Well sorry for previously posting a busted link. I got taken to it earlier, but they have promptly removed it now.

So, the real question is when can we buy either HG or XG models?
