New 2023 JDM Reels
Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
The spool is not symmetrical.
Curious what changes Daiwa made to the braking system.
I like the redesigned palm side plate.

Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
They have pictures uploaded now. Pretty sweet black reel and looks like they mentioned partnering with KTF on the reel.Tony9 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:00 pmNew SS Air

Looks like a new Magforce called SS Magforce. Pictures aren't loading up yet.
SS MAGFORCE (Simple & Swift MAGFORCE)
SS AIR TW has developed a new SS MAGFORCE with the aim of improving cast feel. Along with the development of the low-inertia spool unit, we have adopted a new structure that includes a review of the side plate unit, making it more compact, and optimizing the magnetic brake.
*Swift means quick and quick.
SS MAGFORCE has three features.
1.Low inertia AIR spool for exclusive use of SS MAGFORCE
*Not compatible.
2. Low trajectory yet achieves "elongation" in the latter half of casting
3. Thinner side plate on the palming side allows for a compact grip
Based on Steez CT/Air frame. Looks like it mentioned a lighter spool and lists clicking drag as a feature as well.
Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
They would come with a t-wing 100%, and while i don't want it, i'd accept it. I just want the shape/design of these reels, but rebooted. I have been hearing people ask for a Z1016 for over 10 years, and we have never seen it from Daiwa, even tho, i am pretty certain that the Z2020 did pretty well for them. One Z1016 with aluminum gears and a magnesium frames, and the other in aluminum with a brass set would be incredible.

Looks like a new airity and a IM Z limit breaker dc style reel with some sort of phone app???

Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
Not able to see the Daiwa stuff, other than the Limitbreaker reel on youtube. As far as Shimano goes, I hope that the new Conquest still gets tier 1 brass micro module gears, rather than sharing gears with the Aldebaran BFS.
Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
That is some crazy price for a fishing reel. Looks like an amazing reel, tho. They better make a 1016 as well.
Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
I still have not seen the SS Air. Only Daiwa reels I have seen are the spinning reels and the $1200 projected IMZ.Tony9 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:00 pmNew SS Air

Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
Daiwa took down the link to the SS Air. Perhaps someone hit the "upload to server" button when they shouldn't have. Hopefully we'll get an official announcement soon.
Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
I am hoping the Conquest BFS has brass micro module gears, but I doubt it. The weight is down almost an ounce, so I figure Shimano used the same aluminum gears from the Aldebaran BFS HG/XG. That isn't a bad thing, just would trust the higher tier brass micro gears that came with the 2021 Conquest 100HG...

Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
I agree, I've employed my six Conquest 100DC reels for all of my crankbait and Jackhammer duties for the last two season and they've taken the abuse with aplomb. In a perfect world, we would get our cake and get to eat it, but something had to give to achieve the 1.4oz of weight savings between the two reels and short of moving away from the forged aluminum frame to a magnesium frame, the other key weight savings probably was to move from brass to aluminum gears.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 4:43 pmI am hoping the Conquest BFS has brass micro module gears, but I doubt it. My fishing applications for these new Conquest BFS reels will consist of a variety of JDM finesse soft plastic techniques and we'll see what a season of fishing these presentations does to the reels and if they hold up well, then I might buy a few more for the next fishing season so I can move away from having to use any spinning gear for my smallmouth bass fishing endeavors.

For the spinning reel aficionados, it appears the new 2023 Daiwa Airity reel has been announced!

Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
I was so close to buying a Caldia, another Stradic, or even a Certate, but I am so glad I waited now. I'd trade my reel fund for a 2-1 to try the new Conquest. I just still wonder if it will get a tier 1 micro module gear or the identical Aldebaran gears. Hobie1Kenobi, a member on here a solid content creator, mentioned the Aldebaran BFS micro's have held up well so far.City17Banner wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 4:59 pmI agree, I've employed my six Conquest 100DC reels for all of my crankbait and Jackhammer duties for the last two season and they've taken the abuse with aplomb. Re: New 2023 JDM Reels
Yes, I have been using Conquest DC reels since 2003 and the latest 2020 iteration is simply the best of all the models I have ever used, and I hope the new Conquest BFS reel will continue that historical tradition of excellence.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 5:46 pmI was so close to buying a Caldia, another Stradic, or even a Certate, but I am so glad I waited now.
