I want one, but simply too expensive, and a reel like this will take a long time to drop in prices on the used market.

I'll buy the gears out of it for my Z.

But I have had no plans before...

The reel looks awesome but I would never have the need for one unless it was down sized to a Steez size and dropped in price by $400

Good idea, but i doubt that it will be compatible. If it is, tho, i am getting a set as well.

Was thinking, what if they release a 1000 size, and remove all of this wireless crap. Just leave the electronic brakes with the same led, and no need any kind of stats tracking crap. Give us 4 modes, each with 8 adjustements, and i think this would be perfect, and pretty sure that the battery would last longer as well.

That was the point of my “eventually”

It appears to be the old Z platform. I don't see why the gears wouldn't fit the old Z.

I voted yes. Eventually. Why? My addiction to tackle is real. I’m a sucker. And although I discovered the Z only after the later release of the ‘limited’ models, I really took to the platform. Also, since I’ve expressed skepticism about downloadable upgrades doing squat, I figure i should see for myself. Some people go see shows, others collect stamps, I fish and play with tackle.

Because they're over 10 years apart. The newer gears that's being made by Daiwa are very different to what was made ages ago.

No. There is no point in having a reel that you cannot unlock its full potential without the App that will only work in Japan.
The reel comes locked in Standard cast mode and requires registration with the APP to unlock the other cast modes.
It is stated in the specs the APP is not supported outside of Japan. And at 125000JPY that's in collectable monoblock territory.

Noooooo :laugh1:

1. Doubt I will ever be comfortable paying that much for a reel
2. I am myself against the age of too much tech. I know I can't stop it, I know there is no fine balance between not enough and too much. I just rather fish the old and simple way...to a degree

Yeah I feel that comment and as exciting as the sound of a new Z is. This will flop
I want to see it the other side of the spool to see if I can drop it in my Z
