It is the exact same frame, just has all the "Hyper" parts, which are mostly just rebranded things that already exist in Daiwas engineering.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Calling this a gen 2 is a bit much. Its a long overdue update to the Steez A. Something Daiwa should do more often come to think of it. They seem to let a reel rot until the next gen replacement. They should practice what the auto industry does and do a mid cycle refresh to update and address customer complaints (see US complaints of thin knobs).

Would you say it is worth purchasing over just getting the zillion SV Tw gears and putting them into an older Steez A?

I think only you can make that decision. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the original Steez 20 years ago or so. I liked the 105 LTD but not enough as the J Dream. Now after having the used the A II, the Zillion SV TW and Zillion SV(TW?) HD, I really like the A II it’s solid feeling but satisfies the “Weight Wienie” in me …

Tell me about it.. my pain is self inflicted. Two classes and a full time has me just crying. Seems like the best weather is when i have the most to do.

In 2016 Daiwa renewed the Steez TW while Shimano renewed the Antares DC.

Daiwa released some variants of the same platform, while Shimano did that too, the Excense DC and Antares MD DC.

In 2021 Shimano again renewed the Antares DC, with completely new frame, body, spool, etc....

In 2023 Shimano renewed the Antares MD DC, based on the 2021 platform.....while Daiwa released a so called "gen II" reel that is still based on the 2016 platform.

Come on Daiwa....

Cranks - shallow, mid, deep to 14'
Plastics - flukes, Senkos, grubs
Topwater - poppers, crawlers, pencil poppers
Jigs - pitchin', swimjigs
Steez #4 will be ordered in the next couple of months

I DID NOT LIKE it for super deep cranks like O.S.P. Blitz Ex Dr Magnum.
