I like the choice of colors on the rods. The brown paint and green accents plays off the natural fiber and organic themes. This is something we have been seeing on MB rods alot lately. They use a render to visualize the blank material that would be otherwise hidden and then apply a cosmetic treatment to the rod to play off what was shown in the render. We see this with the Orochi xXx and XX rods with the kabt fiber that probably looks like regular carbon tape being expressed as a ordimental wrap on the lower half of the rod. This also plays off the Orochi theme with a snakes skin like appearance. The Valkaryie also gets it but in red. The dark brown paint and heavy metal flake are what does it for me with the Valkaryies.

These rods look good but I highly doubt there is wood grain one then as the render suggests but it's fun

These Megabass rods sure look sexy, but they are really heavy for a 40000 yens rod.

From a style and marketing standpoint, Ito certainly is a master innovator. Sometimes I question the substance. One would think that he is single handedly reducing China's carbon footprint. Rumor has it Greta Thunburg is enroute via her goat to hand deliver the Nobel.

At some point everything will come full circle and we will be back to wood.

As long as it floats in my hand I don't care how much it weighs. I learned that with my Valkaryies and 72H+ Wild Side. I'll take floaty over technically light weight everytime.

Yuki Ito and his introductions of new materials that add nothing but marketing buz. Soon, they will be melting plastic bags from your grocery, roll em into the blank, and hype it like this new incredible innovation never seen in the fishing industry. :laugh1:

XFTI rods with a fully titanium reinforced blanks was the only unusual material that i really likes from megabass because it actually did something to the flex of the blank and made these rods like tanks that never break.

dont see anything about the rod weights in that link. looking at the pics they look great the spinning rods look to have a better reel seat than the p5 seat, and the yamakagashi (f2.5-68xks) might have to find a way into my arsenal at some point! the jade python looks like it might be the orochi equivalent of the windbuster, probably be a very popular rod!

Link in the first post, scroll down. They are indeed quite weighty just going by the numbers

they arent the lightest rods i have seen but it will really depend on the balance, the Flyssa wasnt a light weight by any means, at around 4.5oz doe a 2.5 power spinning rod, but was perfectly balanced with pretty much any reel i tried on it and never felt any heavier than the baby plugging which weighed a full ounce lighter. just have to hope they nailed the balance!

I will buy one if they are small batch, wild crafted and sustainable.

I want that Bearing Down with a JDM Zillion or my Alphas SV TW. That silver to brown fade with cork handles would look nice with the light hues of the Zillion 1000 and Alphas 800 reels. I've been wanting a bottom contact rod for that Alphas for a while. This Bearing Down is a fast instead of extra fast like previous interations of the Bearing Down. Even if it is a faster than fast I have come to like that for bubba shots, light Texas rigs and finesse jigs since getting my M+ sold tip XF Jackall BPM. That flexible tip can rob you of some hooksetting power but its super useful for knowing that the bait is doing including being in a fishes mouth.
