Daiwa release Steez A 100

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa Steez A 100

Post by jwfflipper14 » Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:49 pm

I see Daiwa put the new Steez A 100 on their site. I'm guessing the only difference is the gear ratio. No 6.3.

Saw it on TW too. Listed for $650 I would assume very few sell. If paying US price, the Zillion is an absolute steal versus the Steez A 100 at $650.

Is this a new reel or just the JDM Steez A II brought over to the US market?

There's another post on the Enthusiast forum as well...I haven't looked up the line capacity, but the fellas at THUT says the USDM has more line capacity. I'm wondering if it's a 36 mm spool.

34mm spool. The hole in the frame isn't punched out to its max like it is with the 36mm reels.

Good catch...that makes sense, although a Boost spool in 36 mm would have been a great addition to the OG Zillion/US Trial/TD Fuego reels.

Yes it would. So now we have a deeper, mid and semi shallow 34mm boost spool?

Yep, let's hope it'll be easy and somewhat affordable to buy these spools.

We have the new 36mm boost HLC spool from the Steez A HLC to play with.

Yeppers, Jorrick has posted some user feedback on the 36 mm boost HLC spool. I'm hoping for more all around use akin to the 100M or better yet a 36 mm Type R+. It's going to take a lot to match up to the IP Honeycomb spool IMO.

Haha. Thanks for the laugh. Daiwa reel prices are getting a bit ridiculous.
