Ryoga 1016H (Black) gear set

Question folks
I have a a Ryoga 1016h (black) RH that has suffered some light corrosion on the main gear and is a bit rough, tried ordering from Daiwa Aust but no stock
Does anyone know of any availability or other gear set that will fit, happy with gear ratios up to 7.3 and either brass or ali.

I looked on Plat and it appears you can’t buy just the gear set. I’d recommend shooting them a message.

Cheers for the reply, the parts on Plat are only for the older silver version, unable to find the newer models set anywhere, I will send them a message in case. I am hoping someone might know if any gearsets from other models will fit.

The catalina TW gear sets should work if you still want the clicking drag or the Catalina BJ gears if you dont want clicking drag..
these reels the gear sets are available from plat are are not micro gears.
The black Ryoga has a magsealed bearing in the pinion so meets the policy of Daiwa not selling gear sets from magsealed reels in order for you to send the reel back to daiwa japan for repair.

Since Plat has opened up the option of ordering gears for magsealed reels, I’ve ordered the gear set from a 21 Basara to try. Should be the same since they use the same gear shaft and based off the same frame.

I could have just ordered the original set but want to try the digigears in the Ryoga. If they don’t work I’ll just order the original set. Wish I could find a 7 something gear ratio digigear set.

Nope, not a chance. The Z2020 and Z200 gears a quite a bit larger than the Ryoga 1016 gears and even larger than the Ryoga 2020 gears.

That part I'm not sure of...gonna have to wait for the Z and Ryoga gurus to chime in.

Just an fyi, the Daiwa 21 Basara (non IC) model gears fit the 1016 black Ryoga. They are identical except they are the digigear instead of the mesh gears. Installed and running in one of my 1016’s and have 3 more sets on the way. I’ve yet to discover any gear sets that will fit the 1520’s though. The main gears are the same between 1016 and 1520 except pinion is longer in 1520. What’s odd is in the Basara the 100, 150, and 200 show to be using the same gears and also for some reason you buy the pinion and main gear separate instead of a set. Really wish I could find a 7 something set that would fit the 1016 and or 1520. I own like 7 or 8 and there’s no other reel like it for moving baits and swimbait in my opinion. The digigear feels pretty much the same as the mesh gearing as far as smoothness but I figured I’d give them a try in a few reels. I’ve got 2 new 6.3 ratio sets and used 5.4 set of mesh gears for Ryoga if anyone’s interested

ok i havent checked in a while.
gears sizes as such OG ryoga 1016 smallest, OG Ryoga 2020 middle, Z2020/Z200 largest, Ryoga bay jigging same diameter as the 2020 gears but deeper to accommodate the extra drag washers, Ryoga Bay jigging gears also fit the Ryoga 300 Shrapnel.
Now Ryoga 1016 has same diameter gears as the newer ryoga 1016 and 1520, also the wide body TW zillions and previous zillion 1016sv TW. but OG ryoga pinion is different and its main gear has a larger hole for a larger mainshaft.
