Is your Proflex 2 the UL or Light??? I have the UL and it is soft, but still much more of a fast action. Wish I had bought the Light version, sometimes the UL feels way to overwhelmed by moderate sized fish and lures.Tony9 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:21 pmMy other BFS rod is the Tsurinoya Proflex II so I can only compare it to that. The build quality of the rod is definitely good and better than that of the Proflex II. The rod is light (Daiwa lists it at 3.8oz) and balances really good with the Alphas (on the locknut).hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 3:56 pmI've been back and forth about this series of rods forever, but never found any feedback on them. Let us know what you think.
I've only taken it out on a few trips so far. Sensitivity is what you expect from a rod retailing $90. I was using braid to leader so it enhanced the feel a bit. I was able to detect the few bites I had without any issue. I bought it mainly as moving bait rod so I did not try out any bottom contact techniques yet.
Taper is moderate fast with a good backbone. It's a perfect complement the Proflex II's XF taper which I plan to use for bottom contact. I casted as low as 2.5g and as heavy as 8g. At 2.5g, it can do it but not ideal. 8g seems to be the upper limit and wouldn't go over that. Sweet spot is about 3.5g-7g. Overall, I wanted a rod to throw moving baits in the 4-7g range and it was able to do that at a great price.

Mine is the UL. The solid tip is pretty soft but the blank fastens up pretty quick. To me it is an XF taper. Back off the drag and take your time getting them in. That's the fun part about UL fishing.
Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
I get your assessment of the XF taper. I have always had a hard time distinguishing XF tapers. I know they are supposed to translate to backbone very fast, but I have used some XF rods that are just brutally stiff and others that almost feel like a moderate action.
Either way, I still wish I had gotten the Proflex 2 Light, I have caught around a 3lb Walleye on the UL and it was a CHORE.

Steez A TW 1016SHL w/ the new Steez AGS 7'3" Utility Player. Did the knob swap as I don't like the old paddles at all.
This setup makes me feel like a grown up.

Stuck an Alphas SV on a Laguna M moderate rod to throw some flukes out of the kayak. It actually looks really good on that $40 rod.

We've had nothing but rain for the last few days, but getting ready to rig up for the weekend and...I have such a problem.
Man these rods are special. The Power Pitch might be my favorite rod ever.

Here are my Daiwa casting reels to end the season. Lefty Zillion is for jerkbaits. I find it much easier for me to work them with my right hand on the rod.

Is that an illusion or is the old Alphas really that tiny compared to the 34mm Steez TW reels?

Have you fished the first line of the Compile-X Steez? I'm wondering how the new Power Pitch compares to the original Daiwa Steez STZ 711HFBA.JCBHatesFishing wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 7:02 amWe've had nothing but rain for the last few days, but getting ready to rig up for the weekend and...I have such a problem.

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's
Its still the old Alphas platform but with spool spacers. I always heard the Steez TW reels were smaller. Maybe the black paint makes it appear smaller compared to the Steez TW. Even the Tatula 100s look smaller. I don't have a Steez TW to compare. Are they really that big?
